Layoffs in Switzerland

Who has been affected? Which companes? Numbers?

I am aware of layoffs at Credit Suisse, UBS and Deutsche Bank. Anyone have an idea of the numbers?

What other companies? Are more layoffs expected? I hear UBS are expected to make another round in February.

This isnt just about the banks, its the wider economy too. Post any details you have.

Cheers, breezy

Re: Layoffs in Switzerland

Here's an article in the Tagesanzeiger online which lists many of the larger companies that are laying people off:

Re: Layoffs in Switzerland

I know very little about this kind of stuff but, I suspect Switzerland will get hit in the new year and will only be made fully aware of the situation then...

I did read something about Cablecom's boss leaving and heaps going with him...

Re: Layoffs in Switzerland

well all this crisis as been coming for quite sometime, we may only now be seeing the affects of it in the front lines its been hiding behind things for at least 2years and though I believe layoffs are coming and things will be done for a couple years now , not alot of openings and currently loss of jobs are coming, in the background of things things are quite likely on the up.

Re: Layoffs in Switzerland

I am aware of few layoff at SwissRe also.
Things are expected to be grim globally till late 2009, including Switzerland. Based on the current trends and data, the economic situation globally and (hence) the job market are not going to improve much, before Jan2010.

But some things can really not be blamed on "the financial crisis"... and poor Cablecom support and performance of the company is on that list.

Re: Layoffs in Switzerland

I read that if the unemployment rate reaches a certain level next year, the respective cantons may consider not renewing work permits. So potential bad news for non-EU B permit holders ...
