There are two ways to increase your savings:
a) Make more money.
b) Save more money.

Your case is, expending wise, similar than mine, but here are the big differences:

Rent - Company pays for it.
Phone bill - Company pays for it.
Unpersoenlich - Company pays for it.

Get into a better company, I'd say.
Are you a management consultant?

Not at all. Just a little IT professional. And I am also non-EU.

thx a lot for the infos for the calls n stuff, really appreciate it!
and as i said...my GF has an iphone now and we use skype, viber, whatsupp etc which has brought down the fon costs to 80 chf (this month, how to keep that up)

the ZVV pass for 10 zones(whole canton of zurich) is 227chf/month. i wanted to buy a GA pass, but i dont travel that much to make it worth having it.
Well, I was just thinking of your mom. You can call her on her fixed phone form your computer for free for 3 months with each 10E top up. That's a whole lot of "calling mom"! lol.

Yes if you don't buy meat. And the cost of meat is no joke here. People here take it very seriously. They may even stamp your hand red, if you try to make light of it.

If this could be of any help, this is my breakdown of costs for a household of two, in CHF/year

rent - 11760/y
electricity - 1000/y
billag - 460/y
cable (internet) - 620/y at Evard (local provider)
household/private liability/theft insurance - 580/y at Mobiliar
health insurance me (2500chf franchise) - 2160/y at Assura
health insurance wife (300ch franchise) - 3730/y at Atupri
car (insurance/tax/vignette) - 1350/y, insurance is at Zurich Versicherungen
GA - 3300/y
banking (account/maestro/visa/travel insurance) - 250/y at UBS

All this adds up to slightly over 25000 CHF.

On top of that we have obligatory car fuel and maintanance, medical expenses, telephones and of course, food - about 13000 CHF in total.

Adds up to 38000 CHF. Everything above that is disposable income, which we make great use of . If I were single and used public transport, 24000 CHF would suffice.
