Firstly hi everyone

My name is Phil and i am in a relationship with a Swiss girl, who i love and we are planning our future together. While doing this the old subject of England (my home) or Switzerland came up. I am looking into the possibility of relocating to Switzerland with her, at the moment i have not pushed this subject with her as i am trying to make it a sort of supprise! and more so while i do the research i don't want to get either my hopes up or hers.

She works for a large international company here in Manchester who have a office in Lichtenstein where she worked before moving here. She is from the Zurich area and as such would i guess plan or wish to move back to that area.

My current job is a Recruitment Consultant and i have been doing this job now for the past 2 years. Prior to this role i was working in International Logistics both driving and in management. Idealy i would be searching for a role in either of these fields. Yes i know as a recuitment consultant i should be able to find my own work bla bla bla. But i am kind of putting out the feelers for now to see if any of you experienced hands have any advice on who to approach where to look and how to go about it.

I have, both with work and with holidays spent time in Switzerland and enjoyed it very much both the lifestyle the people (Zurich i found rude, much like Londoners!) The country and the sporting kind of mentality. My German is not very good and prior to arriving i would be and am practicing as much as possible. I have been learning this for some time and as my family are German, my previous partner and now my new one (in speaking terms) it's comming along nicely.

Apart from hints and tips on where i can find work, i have searched this site and gone through the english speaking recruitment roles and applied. I was wondering if there where any other avenues or preperation which you guys could shed some light on.

Also my partner an i would soon be planning a child. Now would this be better home (uk) or there (ch)? In my own mind i would like us to relocate as soon as possible then go down the road of children. However i was wondering if maybe for the childs future being English born had more benefits if that makes sense?

Regarding the topic of raising children in Switzerland and perspectives for "English born" children I recommend that you create a separate thread in Family Matters/Health. However I recommend to be more specific in this question or you may get only generalised answers. Cheers!
