Need advice re: E301 from UK

I had a Phone Conversation with HMRC today, and it was very bad news. They received my application for an E301 form 11 May, but have still not returned it.

When I phoned them up today, they confirmed, they had received it, but they had so many applications, they were still dealing with those from end of march. That is bad. It means 2 months more, before I see unemplyment benefit money.

Cash is running low, and no new job interviews planned.
Does anybody have any advice, what i can do, to get that E301 form from UK faster, or how I can provide Unia with the information they need from it, or how else to get some cash pretty fast ?

And a bit of advise: If you have worked less than 12 months in Switzerland, and you fear, you could loose your job, apply for the E 301 now.

It could make the difference between seing money now and in 3 months.

Doc.

Wow, that is rough.

Not sure what's going on with the processing over there. We're looking at getting me an EEA family permit so I can join my (Swiss) husband - the residence card portion should take no longer than six months to approve but currently they're working on Feb 2008 applications

useful info Doctor. Out of interest would someone have to fill out an E301 form if they've been working in Switzerland for 1 or 2 years?

Re: Need advice re: E301 from UK

My better half lost her job 30 days shy of 12-months employment in Switzerland. Unfortunately she was lackadaisical about getting the E301, so only realized with one month of her notice period to do that there was a silly waiting list for it (in Ireland).

I would advise that you phone them up. The situation in Ireland (and I suspect the rest of the EU) is that there is now an overwhelming backlog of requests for E301's, and what we discovered is you need to impress upon them that you have lost your job and are unemployed - this will prioritize your application, but depending upon where it's coming from you could still be waiting weeks or even months.

After, getting prioritized, she finally got it after five weeks.

If you don't push them you could be waiting a lot longer; I fortunately don't need a E301, and so it's in the un-prioritized pile - since January...
