Non EU Renewing B Permit when getting unemployment benefits

All, Im soon to be unemployed (Im non EU on B permit) .... I would like to get unemployment benefits & I understand from other postings I would have a high chance of being eligible BUT... my husband also Non EU & in permanent employment (he will get his own B working permit soon at the moment he is on mine as a spouse) thinks I should not apply for it because he feels that when we come to reapply for our B permits the canton will see I am receiving benfits and will decline our application because we are 'costing too much money' for the canton & they will send us and our 2 childern (who are in swiss school) packing back home. We are in BS & my soon to be ex-employer is also in BS.

My current permit expires 2 May 2010 & technically I will be unemployed on 31 May 2010 so I will have time renew it with the company stamp & signature but maybe they will state in the renewal that its only till 31 May.

Has anyone ever experienced getting a non EU B Permit renewed when unemployed (in BS) ? What was the outcome?

I dont think you are eligible for any benefits. You are not made redundant, You left the job so no benefits

have you paid into the system from at least 12 months out of the last 24? if not then your not entitled to anything regardless.

Re: Non EU Renewing B Permit when getting unemployment benefits

By the time I get to my offical resignation date I will have worked for the company for 25 months and have paid into the unemployments benefits scheme for 25 months. So I thought I would be eligible for unemployement.

Also I didn't think resignation came into eligibility - my understanding was that if I did resign I would be eligible - but technically I havent resigned they have forced me out of my job by recruiting my replacement.

The works in the letter they gave me are 'you clearly positioned that you do not see yourself in the current role going forward' - but I never resigned, & never gave it in writing as would be required in my contract had I resigned.

You didn't resign, so you would be eligible. (If you had btw, you have a 3 month waiting period before becoming eligible.)
