| | Are the internships in Switzerland paid?
Hi there,
I was going through the summer internships of some companies like Roche, Kraft Foods, Orange etc. and there was no info, if they are paid or not.
I will appreciate if anybody can give me any general info about this topic. And if the internships are paid, what is the typical salary per month.
Thank you in advance
Wish you a nice and sunny day

Hello
My experience is that internships are paid but not much, around CHF 2k to CHF 3k a month depending on the industry and company.

Impossible to say; they can be paid anything from 800 CHF to 3'500 CHF in my personal experience. Depends on company, industry, luck....

My daughter did an internship earlier this year - she was not paid and it cost me a lot to rent her a place for a month etc etc. But in fact it proved money well spent as she then walked into an excellent job. It put her in front of 147 applicants having the Company on her CV.
So remember if you do not get offered a vast salary - to put it on your CV (especially these days) could be more important.

Usually it is paid - if your qualifications are in order, a serious company would frown on putting on the roll with no pay.
Small offices, doctors, lawyers or artists - well there it may be to no pay.

You can even get up to 4500CHF in big companies (for econ/management undergrad/grad students), but usually between 3000 and 4000.

Thank you again for the info.
Actually I have experience as junior brand manager in telecom company and sales executive. So now while doing master in marketing, I wanted to do a summer internship in a serious company in German or Franch speaking Switzerland. So I hope I can get at least 3000 CHF monthly.
Do you guys think that this is a reaistic plan?
Than you again

First of all, 3'000CHF is already quite a lot for an internship, more usual is anything between 2-3k. And I would definitely not do it for the money, or pick the company according to who pays more. Furthermore, never discuss your salary, that would leave a bad impression, after all it's about the experience, you might however ask them for help finding an appartment. My company (very big in CH and Europe) hires more than 70% of our post-grad employees through internships and diplomas. If you can prove yourself there's excellent chances of getting hired, and that's what companies are doing internships for. It's a bit different in Germany, however, there it's often very poorly paid or even unpaid and companies abuse internships as cheap qualified labour.
edit: We pay our intern 2'200.-/M, most of them are German, and the once I spoke to were very happy with that salary.
2 of the 3 I knew well who've written their Master thesis in the company now got a well-paid management job in the company. The other is in Australia, so she didn't even try to get a job there.
