My partner moved here last month, she's been working as a nanny for nearly a month now. The family she's working for has also recently moved here from UK. I need a few points answering please?

1. There seems to be some hold up in the contract, as I believe the employers must obtain permission or something from the government? Is that right?

2. We obviously can't get a work permit without a contract of employment, however, as we're both from UK, she wont get kicked out if she doesn't get a contract for a while will she?

3. I believe the employer will pay her cash.

4. Is this all legal?

3. she can be payed in cash as long as al the social deductions & tax are paid to the relevant authorities. From what you say I doubt this is happening. Dodgy situation for her.

No, you don't have to register as an employer in this situation. They issue the contract and then contact the tax people, SVA & BGA to set-up all the relevant deductions based on the salary. She (the nanny) takes the contract to the Geminde to register as working. It is actually all quite simple and the SVA will even help them in English if required.

Hmmmm, OK, so what do you suggest? If her employers are saying they can't get a contract yet for her, and nobody knows she's here working yet........

I would agree. Tell her to speak to them about it again, if they don't come up with a contract ASAP then she has to walk away unless deportation is an option for her.
