| | Cost of living in Waadt vs Aargau
Hello,
I'm considering moving from Aargau to Waadt, with work close to Gland.
Now I'm renting a not-so-great but inexpensie house near Lenzburg, and I am just shocked by the rental prices in Waadt.
Are there other surprises in the cost of living there, e.g. health insurance, doctors' bills, food prices?

I've never lived in Aargau but from what I know about Vaud, my guess is that taxes and health insurance premiums will also be higher in Gland. You can check for yourself on these comparison websites:
Taxes: https://calculators.credit-suisse.co...oal=110&lang=1
Health Insurance: www.comparis.ch
Don't see why Migros and Coop should charge higher for food.

Do people commute there 30-40km from Jura canton or the northern part of Vaud?

Jacek | | | | | Can't say for Jura but people certainly people commute those distances within Vaud. Some of my neighbours drive 50 km to Lausanne to work. Problem in the villages on that stretch of the lakeshore you're talking about isn't just the price of housing, it's the availability of housing. Lack of supply in places like Nyon, Rolle, Gland, Morges etc is forcing folks to commute greater distances than they used to.

Yacek | | | | | Renens is a popular area with low revenues/rental.
Canton Waadt/Vaud is expensive when it comes to taxes, healthcare and their administration is known to be a real pain in the a**
Many people commute from Yverdon-Les-Bains and even Neuchatel.
Check the train schedules because driving is also a pain on the highway Lausanne-Geneve.
Good luck.

Jacek | | | | | You might want to have a look at France which is very close. However you would then have to do a full calculation as other costs i.e. taxes, insurance will be different.

And I guess everything is relative. Most people come to Vaud to escape the high taxes/cost of living in Geneva.
