Iam a recent master graduate seeking for life science job in basel. i did my masters in biology and bachelor in biotechnology and biochemistry,
Anybody to save me , i never new is such a painful situation to look for a job after big education, a lot of pharmaticular industries in basel and all you need connection to get in , any advice for me my friends , i real need to get a job any where , roche , novartis any life science conpanies
Not to sound snobbish but competition for big pharma and other positions in Basel is fierce, a Masters will not get you very far as you are competing with a bunch of PhDs and MD PhDs, it is a tough world here...at least when considering positions in the life sciences!!!

Angela is right. I have a friend who has a PhD and 2 years postdoc experience and he has been really struggling to get a job at a biotech or pharma company (he finally got one yesterday). You got to ask yourself what you can bring to a company that someone else with more education could. Usually that something is previous experience in the industry.

Don't get irritated by this, but ... if your CV is similar to your opening post then get someone to check it in case it's full of grammatical errors.

If your CV is fine and your post doesn't reflect your usual writing skills then, obviously, ignore this post.

Good point!

When I read a CV, I look at those things. Someone who can't write well doesn't make it very far on my priority list. If I'm stuck trying to figure out a run on sentence, or wondering why there's a space in front of a comma, then I'm going to move on to the next CV.

Did you get a job in the end? I am interested to know as like you I have a science degree and masters. I have 11 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry and am now looking for work due to site closure of Pfizer, Sandwich.
Depending on what part of the business you're in, there are definitely positions available.

There are two LinkedIn groups you may want to look at:

Pfizer Sandwich Site Closure: http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=3769293
Pharma in Switzerland: http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=1436397

Lots of ex-Pfizer people working here in Basel, so it's definitely worth reaching out to your extended network to see if anyone knows of positions coming up. With 11 years experience, you should (eventually) be able to find a role here if you keep looking.
