Freelancer insurance in case unable to work

Hi,
I have a chance to work 'freelance', but for an umbrella company. This means that I would be employed and get the accident insurance from the company, but I will get paid only for the days that I work. If I'm sick, I will not get any money.
This leads to a question: how to protect myself in case I'm not able to work for a longer period? Which insurance should I consider? How much do they +- cost?
I tried searching for such answers, but found nothing. I'd be grateful for some hints.
Marcin

Re: Freelancer insurance in case unable to work

As a self-employed freelancer, I know this insurance exists. Here is the German word, and what a German word!

Berufsunfähigkeitversicherung
(not-being-capable-of-doing-your-job-insurance)

This insurance kicks in after a certain period of you being unable to work, for example after a few months. You can set the bar wherever you want. Of course the younger you are the cheaper the premiums are. I couldn't find any listing for "Berufsunfähigkeitversicherung" at comparis.ch, so your best bet would be to go to some individual insurance companies and just ask for an offer. They will usually do this by phone.

You might also look for "Krankentaggeldversicherung". Granted I work through a GmbH, but I get my UVG and Krankentaggeld combined from Zurich
