education/employment in switzerland

hi guys!

I'm a US citizen and I'm moving to Zurich next fall after I get married to a Swiss resident...I have my associate degree in liberal arts but put school on hold til i move to zurich...i'm interested in going into something like business or preferably marketing...but the schools i've looked at are so expensive!!! one of them had a $400 application fee! anyway, I'm just hoping to gather some advice on education for us citizens in switzerland and employment(only english speaking right now) or what other field would be good to get into where german isnt necessarily needed.... :-)

Re: education/employment in switzerland

Since you will be coming here as an undergraduate, you will have
to pass a language proficiency examination. If you do a search
on the Forum, there is a whole thread on the proficiency exam.

My hint: Start early with learning your German. It will make the
transition easier.

Here is a link that I found:

It will not be easy or short to get admission, but it will be extremely rewarding. Be patient because the Swiss love their bureaucracy.

Learning German goes a long way, even a little bit.

Courses in English are listed here.

Re: education/employment in switzerland

Most of the degree programs in English are at the graduate level. I am not sure if there are any at the undergrad level. This you would have
to research.

An alternative would be to complete your undergrad in the US and
grad in Switzerland.

Re: education/employment in switzerland

I'd do undegrad US and grad here, if your school offers - finish undegrad online, eventhough it is not much fun for some people. I enjoy having my life here while having an individual study plan at uni back home and fly back and forth every now and then. It will enable you to get your life in some order here while you study at your own pace, but socially, it is better to jump straight into school here as you move, I think.
