page personnel waste of time?

Is it just me or page personnel agency (the Zurich office in particular) are full of sh1t? They call you for an interview, because they believe they have a position for you.

So you come in, waste a days off from your current work place, invested your time and money to look smart. Only to be told the position has already been fulfilled?

I feel like emailing the CEO of this company and tell them to sort their f3king staff. So unprofessional. I'm extremely annoyed.

Feel free to share your experience with them.

Re: page personnel waste of time?

A lot of the big recruitment agencies are "people mills": huge pressure to place candidates, cash in the fees and move on to the next contract. Your experience is probably typical, but very frustrating. I feel for you, it's disrespectful to waste someone's time.

Better to focus on vacancies posted by companies that interest you. If you've got extra time, register as a candidate on the big agencies' websites to give maximum visibility to your CV.

Re: page personnel waste of time?

I also suggest (doubt it though if you don't have one yet) an account in LinkedIn. http://www.linkedin.com. Lots of HR Managers there and tons of head hunters. I was found by a headhunter from that site and now I'd be starting in my new job next month.

you need to be careful posting this kind of thing, if someone on here works for them then it would be simple for them to work out who your are, its quite incestuous here and easy for an agent to bad mouth you to anyone who'll listen (seen it done a couple of times here)

Re: page personnel waste of time?

wow, you are looking for a job, and not updated linkedin??
I would also urge you to keep it always updated. One, you don't know who's looking; two, if you suddenly start updating, you'll tip off your current employer that you are looking for a change...

Also, depending on your line of business, make sure your twitter is clean, and that your facebook is either safely private or visible and sending the right message.

Even in CH, HR can look you up!

Re: page personnel waste of time?

Linkedin is good, but I get many more contact requests and job postings with XING. My field is Supply Chain Management by the way, could be that 1 network favours certain professions over another.

Hi, Sniper

I had dealings with them too, so far no job but they did offer me some.
I found them correct and professional , certainly no time wasting event.

Sadly enough the jobs offered so far are a bit to far from where i live ( traveling to certain areas is not that easy using only public transport but i wouldn't call them bad now.

They are one of the bigger and better agencies out there, as smaller ones do mess around.

BigBlue2 is correct.. the staff who interviewed me are also foreign nationals ,chances are big one of them is on the forum also.

Also note that EF is well known in agencies around Switzerland, a few told me to check it out as jobs come up on the forum also so yes..they are watching.

If you want ,i have a list with agencies and companies i emailed for jobs already... as said i didn't find any but that's probably me

Happy Hunting.

Joey

Re: Hey Sniper

Hi,
I have been dealing with MP recently (recruiting several people after an extensive search and ca. 25 interviews in their Zurich office) and they were quite professional. Offerred both interviews in person as well as videoconferences with their offices in Paris, Rome and London. cannot complain.
Cheers.
