| | Diner [Zürich region]
Does anyone have a good recommendation of a nice diner in Zurich? I'll even take the greasy spoon suggestions. Is there a place that has pancakes or waffles, maybe some biscuits and gravy, cursory strange tasting coffee that's been sitting for too long on the warmer? Or a big juicy hamburger with fries and a chocolate shake. How about a club sandwich with a salad? The list goes on....

Sorry you're not in Kansas anymore.
Probably one of the closest though is a chain of restaurants along the autoroutes called 'Cindy's Diner' (part of Movenpick) probably comes close but you won't find the real thing. Google search the locations but there is one in Deitingen as I recall.

Cindy's Diner serves a good burger and has a shop attached selling good American things like Skippy. It's part of Movenpick and so will do the mandatory fresh orange juice in plastic cups on ice.

I just dug out my mom's fanny farmer cookbook - it's falling apart and falls open to the pancake recipe....
So we've been making pancakes like crazy - flour, sugar, eggs, baking soda, salt and some soured milk (I use milk with either a splash of lemon juice or vinegar), you can make some bitchin' pancakes.
I love waffles - don't have a waffle iron. I make pancakes in the frying pan, although I'm looking for a griddle.
But alas, I do miss diner food as well.

We've made some pancakes but I can only find baking powder, no baking soda. Even though baking powder has some soda in it, I haven't found the right ratio yet. Your pancakes will be much better than mine.
The only waffle maker I could find was one that makes flower motif, thin waffles. Still looking for a belgium waffle maker.
Got all the fixin's for biscuits and sausage gravy to start off our Saturday. Yum! | Quote: | | | | I just dug out my mom's fanny farmer cookbook - it's falling apart and falls open to the pancake recipe....

Kitchenaid Waffle Maker
Do a search on English Forum and you'll find the German (and probably French too) names for most ingredients.

Just heard about this one from a friend. Haven't been there yet though.
Has anyone else been there yet? The menu looks tempting.
