Before you ask me this silly question maybe look at my avatar.

The first part of the post has just indicated on typo which I intended to show in a form of the joke and no hard feelings.

The second one it was just to give my answer to OP's question. The fact that she doesn't share the same sentiment on the above suggestion of coffee house with me it is her own choice and opinion.

Will I also advertise any type of products saying that in my opinion "Rivella beats Coke???" or "KFC beats McDonald??"

I for one would never rate Nespresso as good coffee. A convenient method of making drinkable instant coffee, yes
Why? Its freshly ground coffee sealed in pods and then released under 19 Bar of steam. You can obviously taste the difference between Nespresso and a real Italian, but its closer to that than it is to an instant coffee.

maybe she would consider a Zurich classic, like Sprungli? Lots of entertainment provided at all times...
I googled this but it seems to be a chocolate shop? Maybe I am reading this wrong and it is both?

il baretto. i think you can tell right by the name of the cafe whats on the menu, right? its opposite platform 16/17 ZH HB.
That's the place over the escalator, isn't it?

If so, it's excellent, though not so good since Nicole Kidman's brunette younger sister stopped working there...

It's also open all night at weekends, which is handy.

There's a Sprungli cafe halfway down the Bahnhofstrasse which is full of urine-stained duchesses and gentlemen with small dogs.

As well as coffee and pastries, they also serve the best Coupe Denmark in the Universe.

I love it!

On the subject of camp heaven, there's also the Cafe Felix at Bellevue.

I'd recommend the cioccolata densa... it's not coffee, of course, but who cares?

Re: Best coffee in downturn Zurich

you're right but at least two of the locations have a coffee house attached, I've taken business contacts there before because it's an institution. Here's a nice sum-up from a travel blog:

Cafe Presse Club? I've been told it's very old-school and good but have never been.

But. There's a really good coffee bar on the Munsterhof, between the old town and the Fraumunster. Its name escapes me however.

Hints?
She urgently needs a coffee to pass some time? So you've been asked and now you're asking us? For a coffee? To pass time? I don't get it. Is she an adult? We need more information.

BTW, afterwards, let us know where she passed her time and if she'd recommend the coffee...

And you get a nice bit of biscuit with your coffee, which is a rare luxury these days.

Favorite cafes in Zurich?

Hi, just joined EF and look forward to chatting with all of you. I'm a NYC transplant and was wondering if there were any recommendations for comfy cafes with wi-fi where one can (reasonably) work on a laptop for a few hours at a time? That is, without feeling pressured to buy a 5 CHF cup of coffee every 20 minutes or feel ostracized for plugging away on a computer? Terrific coffee and central location (kreis 1, 2 or 8) would be pluses.

Apologies if this thread has already started earlier.

Look forward to your suggestions and thanks in advance!

Except for terrific coffee, Starbucks is the only choice you have here.

Re: Favorite cafes in Zurich?

Cafe Zähringer is pretty cool, good prices and nice products(vegan friendly and organic)
don't believe they have wifi.

Don't recall hearing music being played there on radio/cd whatever but I do believe they sometimes have live shows.

I love bringing people there to close a wonderful afternoon showing them around town. It's really chill/cool and comfortable.

They have a date cake that's out of this world!

I am at Cafe Schober most weekdays - for me it's the best cafe/patisserie in Zurich. It's on the Niederdorf. You can sit outside and watch the people - don't know if they have wifi, but I bring my own internet.

Re: Favorite cafes in Zurich?

I don't know if they have wifi or not, but I can usually be found in the Odeon on my (now rare) forays into the city.
