I recommend Spillman - has a lovely view of the Rhein. http://www.restaurant-spillmann.ch/e...+Beverages.htm
Lunch menu was good value the last time we were there. Quite popular so reservation recommended.

Elisabethen Stubli and Walliserkanne are the best for traditional Swissie food.

I really like restaurant Schnabel: http://www.basel-restaurants.ch/english/index.html
I haven't been for a while but they used to do lovely soup starters and their Rosti was yum yum yummy! |

Next door to Linde is the Fischerstübe, from whence comes Üli bier. (Brewed on the premises). I think they're under the same ownership? Anyway, the food is about the same quality, but I find Fischerstübe has the best atmosphere.

Chateau Lapin or Häseburg, at Andreasplatz. Communal seating and Rösti and more Rösti!

Another vote for the Walliserkanne. That's where we take all of our out-of-town business guests for traditional Swiss food.
For something slightly more up-market, I also like Safran Zunft. It's quieter and a little more intimate.
Given the choice, I'd take a group of 4 or fewer to Safran Zunft, 5+ to Walliserkanne.
They're about a two-minute walk from one another, so you could check out both and make your choice.
