I hate to be a spoilsport but I had cheesecake from cheesecake co. a few months ago... it in no way lived up to American standards.

and there is a Buffalo Grill just over the border from Geneva in Divonne ... I may have made reference to it earlier in this thread.
Well, I tend to make my own cheesecakes....and why not, all the ingredients are readily available here.

I recommend the Crissier Buffalo Grill over the others...just for the experience of getting in the car, driving thirty minutes and ending up at the mall. What could be more American

It was during BSE and a few of the bosses got dumped in the slammer for serving UK BSE tainted meat 03 i think - also there were a lot of hygiene issues .

I've told this story elsewhere on EF.. but what the hell.. here I go again...
Mrs. G ( thats my mrs.G ) and I went into the Buffalo Grill in Divonne a few years ago... ordered our food and a bottle of wine..
a spotty faced kid doing service as sommelier came over.. presented our wine very nicely... took out his corkscrew.. then proceeded to jam the bottle between his thighs while he opened it.

hmm....what an interesting bouquet this wine has

( we've never been back )

Re: Geneva - American places to eat?

I haven´t been in CH long, but I have learned to steer clear of those restaurants claiming to be American. I learned that if I´m homesick for some US comfort food, the best option is fast food...as much as I hate it...it is honestly the closest thing I´ve found to something from back home. Funny too since I never ate it at home but since I´ve been here, I sometimes find myself craving a Subway sandwich or something.

Re: Geneva - American places to eat?

And how about if the first one of us to find a decent US cuisine, informs the others and we get together for a US gourmet meal ?

I'll find a way to travel for that (rare that I can manage to get anywhere) .... you lot are an awesome bunch so combining two niceties into one event would be

There's also a brunch buffet every Sunday at the Parc de Bastions restaurant, with most of the same items.
