| | restaurant recommendation.. La Cote ( Vaud )
ok kids n kidneys...
I'm sure this topic has been discussed before but as restaurants come and go and their reputations ( not to mention chef's ) change I thought I would bring this up again..
my brother and his wife are on a wirlwind tour of the grynch estate next week and mrs. G and I are looking for somewhere nice to take them for a mid week lunch
so far the winner is " le clef d'or in Bursinel ... nice food and nice views but I'm willing to listen if you have more recommendations?.. you're favourite little place that you've always kept secret ?
thanks ,
g

I rather like the Cafe-restaurant de la Poste in Lutry.
The food's reasonable and it's right on the lake, which your visitors might appreciate.
I've never had too much of a problem parking around there either, but then I'm old so eat relatively early.

thanks again.. mrs G and I had talked of doing this last year but somehow never got around to it.... I just checked the ChateauV site for a link to the steamboat and this has been placed as a contender.

Take a boat to Yvoire. It's super impressive, great fish, great service.

We have taken all our guests there, the best was actually the regular menu, perche (ton of it, served on giant hot plate heated on candle, with sage, butter and lemon sauce), french fries and nice green crispy salad. The whole experience was fab, lovely servers and wine is excellent. Nice deserts too. Book ahead, just to make sure, but we never had to. Now it's the season, I'd book.
They have other fish, too, not huge menu, but nice cloth table linen, napkins, wood, serving chilled white wine should you want it, standing right next to you, zero plastic, formaica and grumpiness. Very pleasant. CGN boat from Nyon here.

Hi
Think the Clef d'or in Bursinel does do view and food well, but some other ideas are
Aerodrome at Prangins - no lake view, but bonus of watching flights take off/land and food is good so long as you are not in a large group
Florimont above Gex - ok slightly off piste, but has good view and is suitably chalet chic with food cooked on hot stone, fondue etc
Rectiligne in Divonne - has super view of Divonne lake and good lunchtime specials, but understand the evening is pricey.
La Pecherie outside Aubonne - literally lakeside and specialises in filet de perche if you like that!
Cafe de l'Union in Crans-pres-Celigny - no view, but great food and always booked out NB may be on summer holidays soon
Hope you have a good meal!

thanks for the list moose... the only other on your list that I've tried is the Aerodrome... this was recommended by a friend ... maybe we hit it on a bad day a couple of months ago but were very disappointed both in quality of food and in the service ... I wouldn't take guests there until and unless we go back ourselves
