| | Hen Night somewhere in Bern or Murten
Hi All,
My bridesmaids and girlfriends are all flying to Switzerland for my church wedding at the end of the year. We want to go out for a couple of drinks first and then hit the dancefloor(s) for my hen night. As we are all not familiar with Switzerland, does any of you have suggestions where to go in Bern or Murten? Pubs, restaurants, etc?

Where ever it is in Bern, start early!!!
That altho beautiful city grinds to a dark-age yokel halt and a very early time. Even the high end hotel bars are closed on one's return!

Coutesy of WTG.
Worth a look Bars: You can't really go wrong with Lorenzini, Hotelgasse 10 ( www.lorenzini.ch), with its music bar, cocktail bar and New York-style wine bar. Eclipse Bar, Gurtengasse 6 ( www.jansengastronomie.ch), is a trendy option in the Old Town, with a young, chic clientele, which becomes livelier the later it gets. Leichtsinn, Kornhausplatz 10 ( www.leichtsinn.ch), is another stylish venue with a sushi bar and outdoor seating, while the spacious Kornhauskeller, Kornhausplatz 18 ( www.kornhauskeller.ch) , is among Bern's most sophisticated bars. Clubs: Wasserwerk Club, Wasserwerkgasse 5 ( www.wasserwerkclub.ch), is a Bern classic that has hosted acts like The Prodigy, Faithless and Moby, and still attracts serious clubbers and international DJs. Bierhübeli, Neubrückstrasse 43 ( www.bierhuebeli.ch), is both a club and a concert hall, and guests can enjoy concerts as well as DJ-spun music here.
Live Music: In Marians Jazzroom, Hotel Innere Enge, Engestrasse 54 ( www.mariansjazzroom.ch), Bern has arguably one of Europe's finest jazz clubs, attracting leading international performers of blues, jazz, gospel, R&B and soul. Top international rock and pop stars perform at the Stade de Suisse football stadium, Papiermühlestrasse 71 ( www.stadedesuisse.ch).

if planes haven't been booked, you might want to consider having the hen night in london instead.

I personally like the Kornhause for 1-2 drinks. Great architecture and a great place to start. The mexican restaurant Desperados is a fun light atmosphere for a few drinks as is the Mr.Pickwick. Pickwick is more of an english pub. As for the night of dancing I can suggest Liquid or DU-DU.(SP?) Both are typical dance clubs with loud music and shoulders touching throughout.

to the op: bars in bern close EARLY. if trendy clubs like liquid (yikes) is not your thing, you might have to reconsider the town!

Anywhere outside Bern, including Murten, is not in any way suitable. As Phil says, staying in London is a good choice.

A friend of mine here actually runs a hen party business here in Switzerland and as well as organising everything you need for a hen party I am sure she would be happy to advise you on what you need.
Check out www.zurichhenparty.com
Hope that helps

We've done girls nights out (often Friday) in Lorenzinis, ask for one of their big special rooms upstairs ( it has chandeliers and looks fab) and you can really start your party with dinner and drinks. Then you head downstairs (pretty late!!)and you can also reserve their bar area ( by reserving a bottle of champagne) which has seats and is set off from the dance floor. We've done their 'Celebreighties' over 30's nights but they have other nights other weeks. The upstairs dining room allows for all sorts of fun,(we often have birthday parties with fun 'tasks'..) it's private and I don't think it costs any more. usgang.ch has all the Bern events by calendar so you will be restricted to what's on. We did Liquid too, we had at least 20 for a leaving party and that was wild but ended up really expensive (1500chf!) because they kept filling the ice buckets with drinks!! Whatever you do, have a fab time, good luck | This user would like to thank bernbear1 for this useful post: | |
