| | Afghan restaurant near Basel...?
Hi,
I've heard this mentioned on Radio X with recommendations however I lost the signal before the name was given and couldn't find it on their website.
It's over the border in Lorrach I think? It was rated highly and cheaply has anyone been or heard of it?

Sounds like the one in Lorrach. I have a bunch of German friends there who go from time to time. They have good taste, and don't go for expensive places for our regular meetups, so I'm guessing it's worthwhile though haven't been myself. I'll try and find out more.

Even if that's not the place (like there must be 100s of Afghan restaurants in Lorrach!) I want to go.
I'll check my calendar and organise an event!

I went there couple of weeks back. Although the food was good the service was really bad. it took more then 1 hour and 15 minutes for our order to come and resturant was'nt even half full. the person taking order, I checked from their website was wife of the owner. she was really in a bad mood, not helpful at all. after 40 minutes she told us that one order of fish, the most expensive item on the menu cannot be prepared as they have run out of it. The table next to us had to sent their order back 3 times (no exaggeration). the food is not served with tradional naan but with donar kebab brot, or flat bread or rice. meat dishes were good and prices too but will think twice before going back.

I wouldn't have even known it should be Naan bread in an Afghan restaurant so I'm afraid the detail would have been lost on me! I'm afraid I was blinded by the opportunity of plentiful red meat, the use of garlic and spices and the complete non presence of Aromat on the table!!!
Great feedback however, as it's always nice to hear actual experiences, we'd have been going in a group that don't know each other so well, so rudeness can kill an atmostphere like that I think. Perhaps my husband and I will check it out first. I am still keen to go.
I'm assuming all the meat on offer is Halal too?

Hi Kurbee , Afghani food is usually accompanied by Naan which is whole wheat and quite long (16 inches) unlinke one served in indian resturants. Afghanis usually dont eat white rice but pilaf with nuts and sultanas etc. Hopefully it would be a better experience for you then mine | This user would like to thank fareehasharafat for this useful post: | |
