From the UK?
I thought maybe from Asia since you were looking for an Indian/Chinese joint and sounded quite desperate.
Looks like you work in an interesting field: do you have an opinion on NLP and clinical hypnotherapy?

I'm not looking to debate really: I'm just exploring these areas and wanted your opinion. Sounds like NLP is a bit shaky to me, but maybe it does work. All I've ever done is read about it.

Curry addict eh? That is the sign of true Brit.
The popularity of Indian cuisine in England is nothing short of amazing.

Personally just think it is a glorified version of CBT and just another trendy therapy. It is not my bag . I am a great believer in how the past affects the here and now.
I am very interested in Transactional analysis - about your ego states and wonderful short read is a book called "Counselling for Toads" Robert De Board - gives a fascinating insight into how we behave during our interplay of communication with others. I recommend it to all my clients.
What is your occupation and what brings you to Switzerland?

Well, I think I would agree with you: NLP probably isn't a bold new discovery in itself, but rather a aggressively marketed organisation of many other psychotherapy tools / discoveries. Anyway, I'll stop there - I'm out of my depth in this discussion - just a silly noob I am.

I work in Insurance, specifically, Catastrophe Risk Analysis. When it's shakin' and quakin' and rainin' and floodin' we're groovin'.

Re: Is There An Indian Or Chinese Take Away In Lugano??

We have eaten there and had take aways and so far it is the best Indian we have found. Not quite like the UK but a compromise - food is great and they do take aways !! Staff are very friendly and service is good. place is hard to find though - on the back streets. You may need to google map it.
Naan breads are quite hard though (like cardboard!) but the chilli king prawn vindaloo stength is really good in fact so good we get a take away there at least twice a week.

Also they do a fab potato side dish. yummu yum!!

I also recommend for fellow curry addicts the following site . It is a UK Indian shop where I used to live that make fresh curry kits and will send all over the world including to Switzerland . Just like the real thing - comes in a ready made fresh kit and you can put in your freezer.

All you do is add the meat etc but as a curry queen the trick I find is to follow instructions then add plain greek yoghurt 10 mins before the end of cooking with a some fresh corriander. ( also if some currys are too bitty I just sieve or blend the spices after cooking before ading the meat ingediants) I also prefer to cook the sauce for about an hour to get the flavours going before adding the meat.

If you like hot currys then buy the Xacutti as its hot yet thick and rich in flavour. They have everything from Kormas to balti's to madras etc.

Also they sell chinese curry sauce which is just like take away curry - good old chinky curry after a few beers eh ?? It is dead quick and easy as its a paste and its fab but you have to ask them for it and to post it as it is not on their website.

If you order say Caroline who used to live in Sudbury and now lives in Switzerland recommended me ( you may get freebies) .

king coconut is good. they have all you can eat buffets on the weekends. but its around 40chf for it. but when you think of it its worth it cuz at other resturants you would have to pay a lot more to have so many different dishes.

as for Chinese food, i go to ponte tresa, and take some food back with me. its cheap and good. the places in lugano are way over priced and lack in quality. also i think they do Chinese food at the restaurant in manor every thursday lunch...

Ciao,

Try La Perla d'Oriente (chinese/malaysian). It is past Gandria, you have to cross into Italy. Seriously, it is not far, just past the border and you make a left up the hill (look for the sign on the left). The food is very good and they have take out. I have a copy of the menu and a copy of the business card, so just let me know if you would like me to email it.

I don't know if they have take-away, but Ristorante degli Amici in Vezia has good Indian food. It is on Via San Gottardo on the left; if you get to Manor you have passed it.

Re: Is There An Indian Or Chinese Take Away In Lugano??

Definalty mentyio me to help with a better deal , as I used to live where the shop was and they know me well, and my mates here all buy them now anbd mates from all over the world. Say my friend Caroline from Switzerland recomeded me, as they usually look after you when asking for extra, you need to ask on the comments part for some popadumns which they usuallly send free, the plain and garlic or spicy are the best.

Tip for popadumns, dont fry them !! Brush very very lighlty with olive oil and pop in microwave until they turn crisp.

Also I cannot recommend enoiugh the xacutti curry, we have it very hot but you can chose your strength.

It is a thick sauce and very yummy. But you may want to go for medium or mild if you are not a fan of vindalloo strenth. Intense and superbt flavours !!

I dont follow the isntructions on the packet, what i do is cook the sauce for about 2 hours on really low, then sieve the grit stuff and discard, then blend the rest with my magi mix blender , then I freeze the sauce, which by the way gets hotter in the freezer !!

and take out and deforst as and when I need , about 4 hours before and add prawns chicken or fillet of pork cook for only 30 minds or so , yum yum , but beef never very good for xacutti

It is the best ever place to get the mix , it comes fresh and ready to freeze, because not only does it taste like a restaurarnt you can feeeze the mix packets as soon as you get them

Also you must must buy but the bombay potaoes, medium strength , follow the instircutions and allow the spuds to cool but when you are cooking in the final stages add a bit oil and then garlic and curry powder yummy yum

I am a real curry queen addict and this is the best place ever to buy !!

Hopefully if you say my name they will look after you well
xxxxxx
