You do realise this is a vegan thread, don't you?
One of the Label Rouge requirements is that all the chickens are strictly Vegan...

Yes, it's a bit off to impugn a whole store chain on the basis of one sample. As it happens, we'll be eating a Lidl-bought chicken tonight.

Lidl in France, this was, complete with the aforementioned Label Rouge. Eu4.95/kg.
Not the whole chain. Just the chicken I had - and some incredibly tough (and inedible stewing steak).

Their vension has been great though.
