| | [Zurich] Dungeon & Dragons on Sundays
Anybody interested in some D&D? I currently run three campaigns, and one of them could use another player or two. We play on Sundays twice a month, starting at around 13:00 until around 18:00.
For all those who are curious: I'm talking about a pen & paper roleplaying game. A group of people sits around a table and all but one play a character in party trying to fight evil and amass great riches. There's lots of dice rolling and talking involved. We usually have lots of fun.
You can read more about it on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role-playing_game
Or, as Jonathan Drain said: "Dungeons & Dragons is a game played with dice. One player controls a dungeon, which is like an underground maze full of monsters and treasure. The other players control one character each, maybe a wizard or a warrior, and their task is to work together to beat the dungeon. What’s neat is that if you’re successful, you can keep your character along with any treasure they found, and use it the next time you play."
You can read up on my thoughts about roleplaying in general and the three campaigns I run in particular on my blog: http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/alex/RPG |

My level 12 Stone Ogre deals 1537 HP damage to your level 1 Pixie vaporizing her in a puff of blood.
Does the D&D event involve booze? Nothing better than drunken Ogres fighting boring D&D do-gooders |

I'd have loved to play the odd game, but would be too unreliable for a regular campaign
Best thing I remember from when I used to GM; the group were just about to burst through a door to attack some baddies.
Cleric to Fighter: I think you should go first because you're the toughest.
Fighter to Cleric: No, I think you're going first and I'm the toughest.
Well it made me laugh. Needless to say the group didn't get very far | The following 2 users would like to thank DanielL for this useful post: | |

Guest players are welcome as well. If you're interested to play on November 4 and December 9 in our Shackled City campaign, send me a [PM] http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/alex/ShackledCity

For all those who are interested in running something else: I have an interest in rules light systems and have copies of Faery Tales Deluxe by Green Ronin and Zorceror of Zo by Atomic Sock Monkey. I'm also interested in playing subjective Fudge and other d20 variants (M20, earlier versions of D&D, True20, C&C). I also bought Burning Wheel and When Blossoms Are Falling by Luke Crane.
The problem with all of this is that I'd prefer it if somebody else ran them. Running three D&D campaigns in parallel is the limit. I'd be very happy to give it a try as a player (and help organize more players).

Slightly off-topic but there's an excellent cartoon parody of D&D, The Order of the Stick. It's just reached its 500th episode. OOTS is a team of PC's going on various adventures and making the odd in-jokes about D&D rules.

Hey, I got introduced to D & D at 18 and simply loved it. Gosh, you would not believe how interlinked D&D is with me real life. I am not exactly an old hand at the D & D role playing, but I think i have read quite a couple of fantasy books. I would love to join the Nov 4 game as a newbie?

Hi All,
I'm a fun too, playing since 1994.
I would enjoy setting a nice group together for a 2nd edition campaign. I've everything ready...just missing the players.
I do not care if you have played 2nd edition or not...if you enjoy the game we will certainly manage.
Please send me a pm and we will organize it!!

I'm still gaming—but currently no English-only gaming group. At best, the groups will be mixed with German, Swiss German, and English.

Hi all,
Would it still be possible to join a game in Zurich? I have not not play since I arrived to Switzerland, about 3 years ago and I miss it :P
However I canot imagine, how may it work out in mixed language groups?! Unfortunately my german is rather lame..

Hi guys!
Just visited the post and got a terrible nostalgia from D&D...
Are there groups that may be willing to accept another player?
I can speak english and a bit of german/swiss german, but definitely not good enough to be able to play D&D (probably would be perfect for a Barbarian Ogre)
