Euro 2012: good bars to watch the matches in?

...and I'm thinking Ireland's three group matches in particular!

If anyone had any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Thanks!

Piranha bar Langstrasse. I always watch big Euro or World cup matches there, easily the best atmosphere in town.

Isn't this the bar where the crazy guy drove into trying to kill his gf?

No, I think that was opposite but I don't know for sure, there wasn't a football match on.

any public viewings by the lake or in more pleasant areas (sorry, langstrassers!) ?
for instance around the zurichhorn meadows?

I have some crazy italian family visiting during the semifinals, it would be great to keep young and old happy and busy...

I knew it would come... we fully deserve it, seeing what happened at the world cup.
and right now, with all the heads rolling because illegal betting affair (yesterday the first national player was outed ), we can actually only hope they get all arrested before the matches and get a chance to think about their own stupidity and greediness behind bars.
and young and innocent football fans like my son will switch to cleaner teams, as much as I am proud of my country for the right reasons, I don't encourage false nationalisms...

The Mascotte club in Bellevue (but I think you have to make a reservation for some matches):

You could stay at home to let those of us with no interest in football have a little peace and quiet in our favourite drinking holes.

The worst, of course, was last time some big footie thing was hosted here. I had some (business) visitors over and it was nigh-on impossible to just find somewhere quiet for a drink and a bite, especially close to my office which was temporarily relocated to the middle of Holland, apparently.

Bloody hooligans

Good memories from World Cup 2010: www.bertabar.ch or www.facebook.com/www.bertabar.ch
Cozy neighbourhood bar with mixed clients (Swiss, Germans, Italians and others). No hools, drunks or junkies around.
They had 2 big flatscreen TV's outside and a beamer inside two years ago.
I think there are pics somewhere, I'll post them if I find it.

Re: Euro 2012: good bars to watch the matches in?

I was thinking of watching them in the Shamrock as I have to get the train into the city i think its quite close to the station but have never been before. I am Irish and generally dont drink in Irish pubs but i thought the atmosphere might be better in there. If i cant be at home or in Poland id like to be around some Irish for the games to make it a little more fun.

It's a short train ride away, but Pickwick's in Zug, just a two minute walk from the station, has a great atmosphere, great fish and chips, and a large projector screen to watch the footy on

It has officially started. Poland scored against Greece 1:0. What an awesome opening match of Euro2012 and starter by hosts in a good fashion
