| | Wedding in Switzerland - Reception Ideas
Hi all.... we're planning to get married next year and are looking at the idea of having the reception in Switzerland. We'd be doing a church wedding and then a reception for about 80 people.
For us the food isn't the most important part (could get caterers if venue isn't a restaurant). Is more important that there is somewhere that we could have a party and people could dance. Also of course a nice view / area is a must can't bring people to Switzerland and not let them see how amazing it is
Finally if there's somewhere outdoor for people to go if the weather is good be a good idea. Any suggestions / tips / pointers be great!
Thanks
K

I've been to two receptions in Switzerland. One was here, on the Vierwaldstätersee http://www.waldstaetterhof.ch/ - hotel right by the lake, views of mountains all around. The guests travelled to the hotel by boat from the other side of the lake. Was the best wedding I ever went to.
The other was in a restaurant half-way up a mountain in Flims. Had to take a chair lift up and then walk the last bit. Can't remember the place but that was a pretty cool idea for a wedding party and had good views.

Sounds good! We're even thinking if we could find a Guesthouse / small place that would let us even bring our own drink to stock the bar. Would be great to offer an Open Bar for people coming. Try and rent a whole venue for 2-3 days including the rooms etc.
Any ideas like that?

Any ideas like that? | | | | | We done that for parties, i.e. rent a ski hut with place to sleep for 40 people, do our own cooking, etc., I'm sure you can find one for 80.

If you want open bar, consider a cave/vineyard venue, they often have nice places with a discount on the wine. Not sure about the Zurich area, but around here there are many nice such places that cater to wedding parties and the like.

We were doing one of our long-distance walks about 15 years ago and huge surprise! Whilst walking past the Meggenhorn chapel, out came a Japanese couple in full regalia - bride in flowing white gown, groom in white tie and tails. Might be worth looking into - not sure about the catering facilities but the venue is super.

Hello
do you probably need a live band for the wedding?
check out our band, circle of time.
We're playing cover-songs and have collected tons of experience performing at private parties.
PM me or email me, if you're interested (dmitri.karpovich@gmail.com)
Anyway, I wish you a nice wedding!

If you want a beautiful unique place in Ticino then check out the post about this castle: http://magnusbogucki.com/photography...lo-di-morcote/
There is a link in there to the event company who can help you with all other questions.
If you want to do decoration by yourself then you can check out the shop: http://kissloud.ch/en/
Hope this helps!

On the entertainment side, I would like to proffer another musical option www.swanbigband.ch
We are a traditional Big Band based in Horgen and have a vast repertoire covering apero and dance music ranging from Latin to Funk but focusing on Swing (including classic Glenn Miller / Count Basie / Duke Ellington numbers)
PM me with the details (date etc) if you're interested.

We had our reception here: http://diegiesserei.ch/en/?linkServI...00000000000001
I would highly recommend it. We took our own wine but paid CHF 25 pr bottle corkage (!!) staff were perfect, building is an old factory so is something a bit different. Not cheap but we found it reasonable when comparing with other locations.
We hired red carpet, the decorations were great, ample room for 80 people with cool outdoor area. I can send you some pics if you like, PM me.

Kev132,
I can't suggest a suitable reception venue/ location, but wish you the best with your plans.
Should you decide you want some different entertainment for your reception, I can provide Palm Reading/ Tarot reading, tailored perfectly to both the walk around and table-to-table environment. I also perform Close-Up magic. See www.dandent.ch for full details.
Cheers
