| | [Zurich] Thai/Viet restaurants that serve PHO?
I'm not quite sure if the soup is called that here, but in Canada we're all hooked on this soup called PHO.
It's a rice noodle soup with beef slices, onions, cilantro....all steamy and awesome for cold weather. I'm craaaaaaaaaving this madly.
I found one place in Binz that has it (well, as close to what I have in canada) but was looking for something a bit closer...
I've looked at alot of menus passing by and can't seem to find one that has this.
does anyone know where to find this? or even know what it is?
maybe they don't call it Pho here, not sure.

It's a great place with a proper restaurant at Helvetia platz (Zürich) and another In the Hohl str. (just off kanonengasse). Both are owned by the same people but the Hohl Str venue is more of a kitchen and has the more authentic taste whilst the Helvetiaplatz venue is a proper restaurant catering for the swiss palate.
They don't have a website so can't provide you with links.

There are various Asian places where you may find it. Tiffins is a decent place; they'll make something for you if it's not on the menu. We should arrange an evening down there drinking Singha and eating, eating, eating... (what's with this weather and my appetite? )

So best to try both.

Hi Jennifer,
The phô is the typical national vietnamese soup, I also love it and you should be able to find it in asian restaurants. good luck!!

Yep as the writer above mentioned it is a Vietnamese dish. Look for Vietnam cum Chinese cum Thai food restaurants and you will most probably find it with them. Sorry do not have exact locations.

awesome guys!
that picture in the link is pretty much what I have been looking for.
I'm going to kill my craving this week.
I bet the Pho guy at home is wondering where I've been, I was basically eating there 4 times a week. At $5 (Cdn.) for a bowl, it was both tasty and also budget friendly.
I don't care, I'll pay whatever I have to at this point. |

There is a noodle house in Puls 5, next to the Angkor Restaurant. They are actually attached to it. 3 kinds of pho, for about 18 CHF. Pricey compared to US/CA, but decent. Ask for extra cilantro...

I've never had Phở in Asian Restaurants abroad. Anyway, if you want to have Phở or any other Vietnamese foods, you should visit District 13 in Paris.

went here...and I have to say...nope. not at all what I was hoping
checking out the Ah Hua resto this week as that pic looks pretty much what I am after. This place had pho, but the ingredients were quite different and I was shocked to notice they had no SRIRACHA sauce to douse in my soup. The broth was rather bland and the meat wasn't what I thought.
close...but I'm trying a few other places in hopes I find one similiar. The place in Binz was pretty good, just wanted one closer. |

Yeah, none of the pictures from that asian place had anything that looked like Pho. I love it and crave it all the time. For me it is the perfect hangover food. Oh, I miss Pho. Oh, and Sriracha in Pho. Geez, now I'm hungry and sad.

Pho, fresh from the side of the road, broth that seems to have been boiling all week and a mountain of fresh herbs to try and push into the bowl. Hot, savoury, herby and refreshing.
My favourite breakfast.
Unfortunately seen nothing even close to that around here
As an aside a couple of weeks ago Lilly's were doing a Deer (Hirsch) curry which was absolutely fantastic.

I know. I used to go to my fave place back home at *least* 3 times a week. I can't begin to tell you how bad the cravings get, especially sundays after a weekend of well, drinking. ahhhhhhh sweet pho. I have the Sriracha sauce, but it needs it partner desparately. I'll let you know how Ah Hua pans out. If not, I'm heading back to Binz, as that was the closest I've managed to hunt down.
ON WITH THE MISSION. I shall report back.

although, that one pic upon closer inspection is looking like what this Puls 5 place had. meatballs! meatballs in pho? and cashews, which I had never seen before.
ah, I'll give it a shot.

It's only been 8 days since my last cup 'o pho and I am already beginning to crave this delicious soup among other asian dishes. I doubt I'll find a restaurant which serves pho in Schaffhausen. Perhaps I'll search the asian market in town there for the ingredients and attempt to fix a bowl for myself.
I haven't walked inside yet, I sure do hope they have sriracha sauce at the very least!

"Pho" is one of the most well-known Vietnamese dishes to the world.
Probably "Pho" is available in many Asian restos, but I am sure what you can find in Europe/Canada/USA is only of less than 80% of quality of what you can find in Vietnam
Once you are in Vietnam, go to Hanoi to taste "Pho", since "Pho" of other provinces in Vietnam is much less good.
