Who says CH is Expensive?

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday, a friend of mine and I was roaming around Zurich and suddenly I saw a nice bar across the street. As my gym is nearby, I am a regular walker of that street and I know almost every restaurant and bar in that area; However, I never saw this bar before. Anyway, to discover my curiosity we both went in and was stunned by the price. 14:00-17:00 ( happy hour ) Stange, Mineral, Coffe only CHF 2,50.-

Living 3+ years in CH I have never encounter such cheap price and the place is really cosy and so are the employees. We drank few glass of beer and the snacks (peanuts, crunchies) were just free of cost. It was worth my money I spent. Such a great place and price but this bar still lack customer. I told the bar-men that I am going to advertise about this place.

If you visit this place please tell them that you got the info. VIA EF. They will be thankful to me
Here are the details Kreuzplatz is the one I am talking about.

Re: Who says CH is Expensive?

www.swaad.ch. (Just to spell it out)

Lunch buffet is CHF 17.50, take-away CHF 12.00 - amazing, especially for our area and considering the amount of rent they have to pay for the place.

Just opened on November 19, btw. All former restaurants closed after a few months of business, so I hope it works out for them.

Hasn't the Bohemia re-openend after renovation ? And isn't that "Nooba" still there ? And the Sorrento apparently also is still in existence. So that it is just the normal change

Re: Who says CH is Expensive?

I was there a few days ago. The food is grand. I would go there again.
It was all you can eat for twenty chuffs or there abouts.

Restaurant Swaad,
Uetlibergstrasse 166,
8045 Zürich

I meant the restaurants in that location (in the Coop building) have been going out of business.

Yes, Bohemia re-opened. Nooba is still here, as is Sorrento.

However, the Pizzeria Vesuvio has closed down and in its place is now Restaurant Freudenhaus (Zollikerstrasse 6). Opened last Monday and looks quite nice.

Alright. See what you mean. You see, I have known Kreuzplatz for many decades, but in a way do not know the place. And so I do when being there NOT see those places in that COOP building. I hope that SWAAD can overcome this problem. But their chances are good, as there are not as many Indian restaurants here as there are Italian restaurants.

I mean, it sometimes is strange. There is a restaurant in Glattbrugg, which opened up as a Lebanese restaurant (husband = Lebanese) and was quite good. Bus his wife (Italian) turned the place gradually into an Italian restaurant (NOT the best) and while the place was crowded in its Lebanese time, it started to be half empty as an Italian place. They right now try to establish it as a Steak House.

Humorously enough, I was shocked by the relative low cost and high availability of energy drinks here versus the US. In the US many remark on the lack of long-term studies on the effects of energy drinks. I doubt scientists would have a problem finding a statistically large enough sample group here in Switzerland...

Re: Who says CH is Expensive?

Actually I am very pleasantly surprised about the price of drinks including beer and wine in the supermarkets here in Switzerland. If you shop at the discount chains like Denner and Lidl, you get good quality products (and well known brands at Denner) at very reasonable prices. Buy more, buy cheaper

Mostly artificial caffeine - cheaper than natural caffeine?

Re: Who says CH is Expensive?

"Who says CH is Expensive?"

Those who refuse to accommodate to another financial environment where income & various spending ratios are different. One can be very effective if wanted. This is one of the richest (if not THE richest) countries in this small world, so if you have mentioned problem, rest assured problem lies most probably on your side, not of this country.
But if you simply have to have that new D&G stuff / cell phone / whatever thing will make you stick to the crowd & feel special at the same time, then embrace the fact you're maybe not that good with numbers, and don't complain (this goes in a general direction, nobody specific meant).

The best things are, as always, for free. Whether it's great experience in mountains (yes, they are free, if you pay it's only because of laziness), love, friends, sports and gazilion other things. Never met a person who was truly happy because of new iPad after a few days. It of course doesn't mean there is none, in those 7 billion..

No, this country is not expensive if you live here. Period. Now get out and do something that doesn't cost a rappen/centime and feels great
