Where is the best falafel in Zurich?

I think the title says it all! I'm in search of the best falafel in town, preferably take away.

Re: Where is the best falafel in Zurich?

They all taste pretty much the same to me but one I like to go to when I'm downtown (Zürich) is under the street in front of Hauptbahnhof Zürich. From the Apple shop take the stairs to go under the street and it's there at the bottom of the stairs to the right side.

Re: Where is the best falafel in Zurich?

There is a place called North Point (I think) near the tram stop for Sihlpost. A short walk from downtown. they are always warm and have a great spicy sauce. I will try to find the location on a map.

Re: Where is the best falafel in Zurich?

Why don't you make them yourself?
I find that learning to make the food you like yourself is often the best way to get the "best insertfoodhere in town".
I already make the "best hummus in town" for myself.
Perhaps a recipe thread needs to be started?

I think they taste the same everywhere in the city but will try out the recommended stands at the next opportunity.

If you ask for it, several stands will serve them in pita bread. It's just not the standard and nothing many care about.

Re: Where is the best falafel in Zurich?

I like the place on Universitaetstrasse, by the Haldenbach tram stop for trams 9&10.

That's the best I've had. But Hiltl's also do great felafels and that goes well with their date chutney ...

Re: Where is the best falafel in Zurich?

@flow

It is because in Germany most falafel or kebab is Turkish style.

Here in Switzerland you'll find many Libanaise falafel that is made with the wrap bread, similar to the Greek ones.

Having lived near to the arab neighbourhood in Geneva, I got so fed up of kebaps and falafels that I sworn take it never again

My best ever in Switzerland was in Josefstrasse, Zurich, next to Montana hotel and opposite to cablecom office. The joint is run by Lebanese people.

Re: Where is the best falafel in Zurich?

Josefstrasse makes Auslanders drool. A mother at my school sings the praises of the baked goods at an Italian cafe across the street from this lebanese joint which my lebanese grandfather has personally approved. On the Italian cafe side of the street is a mexican shop El Maiz of which I approve. Walking from these places toward the HB one passes a chinese restaurant owned by the ambassador of china
