Also, if you're in a public space, think about cleaning up the coals and other refuse from your grill party. Leave the place as nice if not better than you found it. The Swiss are very conscientous about their public spaces. And, as visitors in this country it would be a shame if we didn't treat it at least as well as the Swiss do.

The Swiss are also visitors. They also leave someday:D

I live on the top floor. I can use my wood smoker and no smoke goes in anybody's face, and have not had a single complaint in 29 years.

Also, anyone who believes that a gas grill produces less smoke than charcoal or wood is seriously deluded.

Agree with Tom here. A charcoal grill produces smoke for maybe the first 15 to 25 mins after lighting. After that if you have excessive smoke, you’re doing it wrong.

We live on the one under the top floor and I mostly use a gas BBQ. But I have a picnic size charcoal one for those occasions when I fancy a real BBQ steak. I just check to see the neighbours are not out and about before lighting.

Cheers,
Nick
