Agree with Tom here. A charcoal grill produces smoke for maybe the first 15 to 25 mins after lighting. After that if you have excessive smoke, you’re doing it wrong.
We live on the one under the top floor and I mostly use a gas BBQ. But I have a picnic size charcoal one for those occasions when I fancy a real BBQ steak. I just check to see the neighbours are not out and about before lighting.
Cheers,
Nick

| I live on the top floor. I can use my wood smoker and no smoke goes in anybody's face, and have not had a single complaint in 29 years.
Also, anyone who believes that a gas grill produces less smoke than charcoal or wood is seriously deluded.
