| | Traditional Sunday Lunch at Paddy Reilly's!
In Paddy Reilly's we've finally started serving Sunday lunches. We've had an extremely high number of requests about them over the last few months, apparaently due to their non-existance in Zürich, and now we are proud to say that they're finally here!
There's a 3 course option or you can simply take the main course alone.
We've kept it simple to begin with in order to work with the unpredictable numbers expected.
Starter : Prawn cocktail / homemade soup / mixed salad
Main : ONE of either Beef/Turkey/Pork/Chicken, served with roasties, fresh seasonal veg, Cauliflower cheese, gravy and topped with usual traditional accompaniments.
Dessert : Fresh fruit Crumble, Rhubarb Crumble, Pie, Strudel etc etc.
The portions are very generous, and everything is freshly prepared with the options varying on a weekly basis.
3 course costs 42 Chf
Main course 28 Chf
We started serving them 2 weeks ago, and have received very positive feedback from all of our customers so far.
We start serving when we open at 13.00, and serve until 15.00. If the demand and numbers are there, we will extend that for as long as necessary/until stocks run out!
For reservations, please call 043 497 39 68
Many thanks, Kris Watkins, Manager @ Paddy's

Thanks Kris, welcome to the Forum. We get a free coffee after lunch when we mention the Forum, right? | This user would like to thank Uncle Max for this useful post:

There's an expected world coffee shortage, leading to tighter reigns on freebees from the Irish pubs the world over. Kidding, I'll re-assess again then!!

Good showing Kris,
Many thanks, it's refreshing to see indications of some good old customer orientated service in otherwise barren Zürich.
I'll be sure to drag my rag-tag group of non-EF friends over to you this Sun.
Cheers

I had the lunch on the first sunday with my son.
Prawn Cocktail - Plenty of prawns, sauce good.
Soup - Well seasoned and tasty
Main - 3 generous slices of pork, good selection of veggies, none of them over cooked and proper gravy served in a real gravy boat. Nice touch.
Dessert - Rhubarb and berry crumble with custard. Outstanding. Could have done with a splash more custard, but thats a just a personal preference.
All the other diners seemed to enjoy the food as the bar was filled with the sound of contented muching.
Score out of 9/10
Look forward to this weekends lunch, should set up the Rugby and Chelsea vs Liverpool nicely

How likely is Paddy's to go Smoke Free?
It gets really stinky in there. The five-a-side footballers (see my signature below) always head to the tiny - but at least there - non-smoking section after our games but even on a quiet Sunday the smoke can be too much.
Most of the foreign clientele are used to non-smoking bars, so why can't Paddy's lead from the front and have an outright ban?
There would be huge support for this judging by the thread elsewhere on the Forum on this subject.
Anyone else agree?
Ps, great staff at Paddy's. Always a pleasure | The following 4 users would like to thank Uncle Max for this useful post:

Just to second the announcement in the "commercial section" - Paddy O'Reilly's aka "The Dubliner" - has resurrected the Sunday Roast. Tried it last Sunday, and it will be on my list for a regular visit. A nice change for a Sunday morning chill out. I don't need to describe what a Sunday roast is - and it brings back memories of when "that pub" was in it's heyday - before managerial paranoia set in. Martyn the Welsh bastard/chef deserves credit for this (so he says)
Now, my wish list: GET THE SUNDAY PAPERS IN!!!! (And open earlier)

Hmmmm - I thought I posted this as a new post, but it appears to have been tagged on to Kris's commercial offering - guess I don't understand how things work yet

Is the Sunday Lunch still happening? Was in Paddy Reilly yesterday and there was no mention of it.
Any alternatives anyone can suggest?

The Sunday lunches are up and running again yes, since a few weeks already and seem to be ss popular as ever. I'm no longer involved there but am there often enough still. Portions are large, everything is fresh on the day and the smell when you walk in about 20 mins after the 13.00 opening twists your arm!!
Enjoy!
