Fair & Square, Klein-Basel

Now that Fasnacht 2008 is underway for the next few days, Basel is a pretty action packed place to be! On Saturday there is an "End of Carnival" party at many places throughout the city, one of which is at the Fair & Square pub, which is situated in Clarastrasse, Klein-Basel. It also happens to stock the best collection of Whiskey in Basel!

I'll be spinning the records and if any of you would like to come down for a few drinks and soak up the last of the Fasnacht atmosphere you'd be more than welcome!

Geniessen Die Fasnacht !

Re: Fair & Square, Klein-Basel

Just bumping up this old thread wondering if there are any other newbies out there in Basel who are deliberating about attending celebrations this year on the 27th?

For newbies to Basel, I definitely recommend that you all stay in town to experience Fachnacht, starting with the Leistal fire parade, being up for the 4am start to the Basel event, hanging out in the streets to watch at least one big parade, walking to the Munster to view all the giant lanterns. The novelty may wear off after a year or two, unless actively involved in a clique, but it's definitely worth expereincing at least once.

By the way, some other nearby areas are having fachnacht already, including it being in full swing in Luzerne. (an hour away by train.) I found it interesting to view the differences in various places.

Re: Fair & Square, Klein-Basel

Yes, the Basler Fasnacht is definitely something you should experience!! The Morgästraich is really one of a kind, and as Biff mentioned, the Liestal fire parade is really a fun event as well. Here are a few of the events you can find around Basel: http://baselcommunity.com/basel/events/basler-fasnacht.

We really enjoy the Allschwiler Fasnacht as well, which has just finished. The Sunday night Guggemusik by the chirchä is very nice
