My son is interested in this - Fantasy - anyone got any figures gathering dust that they want to sell?

Specifically looking for Elves or Orcs.
*nerd in*

Which elves? High Elves? Dark Elves? Wood Elves? There's a big difference in terms of models and specially rules...

*nerd out*

*nerd in again*

High elves

Dark elves

Wood elves

*nerd out for real*

Re: Warhammer Basel

High or Wood - they can play together - but ideally Wood.

Wait, wait, play together? New rules out? God, I haven't played in ages... In my time they played *against* each other, not together...

I can check if I have anything in the corner, but I mostly have dark elves which I used to convert into undead/chaos. Will get back to you.

I most definitely have no orcs...

(P.S.: I hope your kid knows that playing with Wood Elves is one of the most difficult things and can turn really frustrating...)

Re: Warhammer Basel

Massive changes in rules - this summer. http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Age-of-Sigmar

Major, major overhaul and simplification of the rules. Much annoyance among the die-hard fans, but it makes it easier to play for children and noobs, so I can only guess that they are looking to get younger people involved. Based on my experience, it is a mixed bag of changes, but overall the simplifications do make it easier.

One thing which I think isn't great is basically they've created "fantasy" space marines, which isn't as much fun as playing the old races.

Elves could play with each other based on a roll of the die, but Dark Elves... nooooo!

Re: Warhammer Basel

Sounds intriguing... Not sure if in a good way or bad way... I haven't played in perhaps 8 years (since I moved to Switzerland, basically), so i am really out of the game... I was a hardcore undead player, and seeing high elves and wood elves playing together makes me uneasy...

I should really just get the stuff out of the basement and give it a go!

Re: Warhammer Basel

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, Carlos. I just found out I don't have most of my stuff in Switzerland... I have my Lahmia army and a few Chaos Space Marines, but the rest is still in my parent's home...

Sorry about that

Re: Warhammer Basel

For used miniatures, I'd check Ricardo and Tutti.

Warhammer Fantasy Elves are either High, Dark or Wood. Check the Games Workshop homepage to see which ones you prefer. There are also Elves from the GW Lord of the Rings game, but these miniatures are a bit smaller than the Warhammer ones.
For Orcs you need to check that you get 'fantasy' and not '40k' - 40k is the future game.

Good luck.

Re: Warhammer Basel

Somehow didn't see that you had already discussed the different elves.
For the "problem" with the new GW rules, there's this:
http://www.the-ninth-age.com/

Fan-made (the people responsible for the most widely used tournament rules) version of Warhammer Fantasy "the way it used to be".

Re: Warhammer Basel

Hi,

(First Post) I have been in Basel a number of months and am now wanting to get back into the hobby. I have varying armies, fantasy, 40K, even a bit of LOTR.
Are there any English speaking clubs now in Basel? or is there anyone willing to attempt to set up a club?

Also, I have a lot of un-needed Warhammer, majority still brand new, if anyone is interested? Just message me, and I will try give a more specific list.

Thanks

Anderham has made some interesting contributions
Re: Warhammer Basel

We moved here a few months ago and my son has decided not to play any longer. Would anyone be willing to take a look at his (small) collection and tell him if he has anything of value?
