is it hard to pick up girls in swiss clubs

im from america and i just moved to switzerland. im 19 and never been to a club. there was this guy i knew from a long time ago who invited me to a club here with his girlfriend. i was enjoying myself at first. i was dancing with his friends who were all guys though. then i saw this nice looking girl who was dancing with a friend girl. i tap her shoulder and try to talk in her ear so she can hear me and she just moved away from me. she wouldnt even let me speak. i was looking dumb standing around looking at other people have fun. i wasted my money. whats up with the women here? i thought a club is an easy place to dance with girls. why else are they at clubs? i dont know what to do when it comes to flirting with swiss women, please help

Re: is it hard to pick up girls in swiss clubs

You're young so I'll be nice to you.

How do you know she was Swiss? Even if you overheard her speaking Swiss-German, that does not mean she was Swiss.

Even if she was, maybe she just wasn't interested... Perhaps she has a boyfriend/husband and was not out to meet other guys...

In my much younger and serious clubbing/partying days in the UK, my girlie friends and I would go out just to dance, not to meet blokes. As unlikely as this may seem to you, it's not all about being chatted up/picked up etc, etc. In fact, at least for me, meeting guys in dance clubs was the last place I was interested in doing so.

Ah! You made the fatal mistake.. before you approach someone you need to have your little knob hanging out, get their attention then gesture wildly towards it.
Works everytime.

Re: is it hard to pick up girls in swiss clubs

One of the curious genetic features of the women of German-speaking Switzerland is the extremely high concentration of phtochomyrizones in their nasal passages. This means that they can, quite literally, smell poverty.

Naturally, the stench of indigence disgusts them and their instinctive reaction is to move away from the source of the odour.

It is possible to mask the emission of the distinctive fumes of cashlessness by rubbing yourself all over with 1000 CHF notes before leaving the house. Be aware, however, that some Swiss women have exceedingly sensitive noses and will not be attracted by anything less than the sweet aroma of diamonds, yacht fuel and horse sweat.

If you can procure some of those, you'll be well away.

Good luck!

Is it hard to pick up a girl in a Swiss club?

Well, that depends on your musculature and her weight, I suppose.

Re: is it hard to pick up girls in swiss clubs

Do not be surprised by bizarre behaviour in Switzerland!

It comes in all forms.

A form that particularly amuses me is "sitting down dancing" - a form of rythmic movement where the masses remain on their benches at their tables, while a band plays dance music. (usually in a tent, at festivals)
They wave their arms, bounce on their bums, and rock to and from to the rythm. But they do not ever stand up and actually DANCE.

At other gatherings where there are no benches to sit on, I`ve noticed the younger generations gather in boy/girl circle groups, and while the music plays, odd characters will seem overcome to make movement, and begin doing pelvic thrusts as a form of musical body expression.

This form of manic behaviour seems also to be directed at same-sex members. So I`m assuming males and females only "dance" with each other?

When I was still new to Switzerland, and questioned this odd behaviour - I was told that dancing is a form of "sexual" expression. Huh?

You need to be different and think outside of the box:

The Locals are definitely not as open and easy going as your average American it has to be said. But It helps to try and put it perspective. You have American Girl dancing in a club and a Borat type character walks up and starts trying to whisper sweet nothings in her ear in a foreign lingo. The moral of the story is keeping trying, your young. there will always be one that will have enjoyed little house on the prairie reruns and be interested in your culture.

Best of Luck in your endeavours

Re: is it hard to pick up girls in swiss clubs

My experiences with our girls night out mostly include a weird part into it. If we dance together, too often a guy will come straight behind me and will push his genitals on my butt in some kind of a demand of procreation activity...

If we stand chatting, we will always get into conversation with who ever feel like joining us. But again, it seems like we attract weirdos who will try to make a move on one of us if not all of us in hope one of us will fall for his attention.

So we now start acting like we are not interested in any kind of interaction with any strangers what so ever beside the bartender.

Sad really as I see the nights out as a great way to meet new people.

Let me offer you a piece of advice that I learned the hard way -- this is a package deal. It's no good to just smell like the last item on the list. Trust me on this.
