If you are in Zurich you could try Manor in Bahnhofstrasse.
They do small plates you can help yourself from the buffet (hot and cold) just pay for the plate size not the weight.
Its a dept. store people are not expecting a quite lunch.

Thanks alreadypacked. Manor makes sense but it's not a place where I want to show people Zurich for first time, so a bit fancier would be good. Any ideas?
Will check out fork and bottle. Never heard of it!!

A friend of ours with a 3 year old was visiting recently and we ended up in Iroquois in Seefeld which turned out to be a really good mixture of kid and grown-up friendly. The kid was given a set of colouring pens and paper to play with and the Kindermenu was quite reasonable. http://www.iroquois.ch/
P.S. This was a lunch time, it might be a bit more bar-like in the evening. +1 for the Manor suggestion as well, the wide range of food went down well with the little one!

Most restaurants are child friendly as if kids are happy, clients eat/drink more and tend to come back.
The real question is, "are my kids are restaurant friendly." !!

I have been to Wagamama and KL Tapenyaki with kids. Both places were very friendly and welcoming.

Wagamama seems popular with friends who have small kids. The Indian restaurant which used to be 'Tandoori BBQ' has moved to Seefeld, and our key for this one is to eat early with small kids so you are out of there before the 'adult diners' arrive. http://www.tandoori-bbq.ch/Indian_Re...ich/index.html
Oh, and I'm a big fan of nooba at Kreuzplatz. http://nooba.ch/
Tibits is vegetarian buffet-style and it has a small kids zone, so tends to attract parents with small kids - but pram parking can be an issue - so make sure you can fold your pram down...
I found you a link - maybe there's something here that suits your needs: http://www.luvaville.com/travel-with...ly-restaurants
And this one lists the absolutely 'kid friendly' top options: http://mygirlfriendguide.com/enterta...ly-restaurants | This user would like to thank swisspea for this useful post: | |

We've been to the italian restaurant lakeside in Seefeld: Frascati/Molino. We love it. They do kid's menu but HUGE plates and ice cream for dessert, high chairs, changing table. You can have a look over the counter into the kitchen. It's next to the lakeside promenade so the kids can wander off a bit if they are responsible, there is a terrace so you can watch them. And reasonable price (75,- for us 3, kid included).

And if you have a kid - the guy does not want you to be there.
This was our experience and I don't wonder that restaurant is closed.

I have admittedly never been with a kid but have eaten there many times by myself, with my wife, and with groups of friends.
Not has any negative experience so far and the owner was perfectly pleasant - so maybe he just doesn't like kids.

We've eaten with our kids in Tandoori BBQ and we didn't have any problems. However, our kids are older (5+) and know how to sit quietl in a restaurant. And my advice with kids is always to arrive early and finish not too late. You get better service as they are not too busy, and the kids are not too tired. Also, Tandoori BBQ has not shut down, it has moved, and we have a good relationship with the owner, so sorry you had a bad experience. Last time we went in they bent over backwards to ensure our son had the correct dietary food...he is now 12.
Our kids are not generally well-behaved, but their grandparents have been taking them to fancy restaurants since they were tiny...they even know how to use chopsticks...which was fun in Paris when they found a Chinese restaurant that truly looked at the family and went 'are you bringing children in here!'...then proceeded to sit them right down then back, out of sight of the other potential diners. Then got blown awAy completely when everyone insisted on the real chinese menu and the kids started eating with chopsticks...and the little one just fell asleep quietly in his pram whilst everyone else was eating...

In any case avoid Papajoes in Schiflände. Last week we called to ask if we could walk in (5pm Saturday) and get a place to which they said it was fine. we specifically said two adults and two children. However as soon as we stepped in the guy at the entrance said it was impossible to find a place for us especially since we had two children. that took us by surprise as we have eaten there with our kids before in the past and we had called before coming. The guys reply was well we are really not a children's restaurant and the lady on the phone didn't know what she was saying!?! He was quite rude about the whole thing whereas it was their fault. anyway that's the last time I went there.

I wuld recommend you Restaurant Grünwald, its placed in Höngg, the food is simple yet delicious and its extremely kids friendly with a big outdoor playground. Maybe is more suitable for warmer seasons, but still worth a visit.

This was our experience and I don't wonder that restaurant is closed. | | | | | Whilst living in Zurich we used to here once a week, when there once with our new born she was crying, the owner offered to feed her the bottle so we could eat our meal.
Felt the manager there was great and very accommodating.

The Bodega Espanola, at Münstergasse 15 in Zurich, is very nice. It is predominantly tapas, but with some other options, so there are a lot of small options for children, and the staff is very friendly and brought free dessert to the kids. Our kids really enjoyed it.
