MORE fish and chips!

Baden, Basel, Zürich, they're all after a fish and chips. It's Friday night, post election night, it's raining, long day at work...where can I find a fish and chips in Geneva?...I have a huge craving for a take away!

Re: MORE fish and chips!

Only place I know is Jims in St Genis but it is closed this evening.

"Fish and chips are available Thursdays and Fridays from 12noon to 2pm, and Saturday until 2.30pm. It is recommended to book in advance, especially on Saturdays."

I think they are crap at takeaways in Switzerland. Costs almost as much as eating in a restaurant.

I agree with you. I miss the cheap and cheerful takeaway Friday nights!

Bit late for tonight, but Picards (the big freezer shop opposite the shopping centre at Thoiry) does a pretty good pack of battered cod; 2 dos cabillaud 'façon fish and chips', their frites allumette à four (oven french fries) aren't too bad either!
€4.50 for two admittedly smallish pieces of fish and €1.40 for a kilo bag of chips... much cheaper than Jims and ready within half-an-hour.

There's one in Ferney Voltaire as well, if that's nearer for you.

Guess what I'm having for supper tonight?!

Otherwise, I think the Pickwick pub does them, eat in though.

Re: MORE fish and chips!

Very good to know, thank you. I think there is one in Ville-la-Grand, nearer to us for Rive Gauche. A bit late for tonight but not next week! Cheers.

Oh, and what about the rest of us poor buggers not living in Geneva? Out in the cold. No lovely fish and chips ... Sigh.

I think the days of fish'n'chips being a cheap takeaway, on any day of the week, are long gone.

However, I did cook for lunch some f&c .... but not the same as from a chippy.
