No Empty Chairs at Christmas

Hi everyone,

if you don't want to spend Christmas on your own -> find a host or be a host.

I like the idea from ikea: http://www.noemptychairs.ch/en

How about you?

Anything to make us buy more crockery, right! .

Joking aside, it's a lovely idea! Are you doing it, Dechen?

I really like the idea but I don't celebrate Christmas myself, so no party at mine.

Re: No Empty Chairs at Christmas

Good idea.

We've done it before but not through a scheme.

Last year. Elderly Swiss neighbours whose own children didn't want to see them at Christmas.

My sister's done it in the U.K. too - for a neighbour whom she knew would be alone for Christmas.

Re: No Empty Chairs at Christmas

I found that if I hung round my local pub on Christmas Eve talking about Pot Noodle, I'd generally get at least one invite to dinner the following day.
