Movie - homeless man helps wealthy family

Can anyone tell me the name of this movie, please? It is a light, family movie set in the USA, with a happy ending.

My memories are, unfortunately, not enough to find the movie.

A wealthy couple lives in a smart home with a garden. Their little girl is cute and sweet (aged perhaps 6 or 8?).

A homeless man, perhaps he is an army vet with behavioural issues, struggling to find shelter, hides in some bushes near their home.

The couple argue about some tasks around the garden (or shed?) not having been done. The homeless man overhears them and, when they are out, sets about doing that work. For a while the couple is content, each mistakenly believing that the other has finally done the gardening.

The little girl figures out that neither of her parents has done the gardening, and somehow (how?) deduces that the homeless man (whom she befriends, how?, and supplies with food, how? while he remains in hiding?) must be the good person in this tale.

As far as I recall, the wealthy family is white and the homeless man is black, though I'm not sure of this, either.

Something goes wrong (a burglary? and accident?) The homeless man is found by the police and almost charged with a crime. But the little girl sorts it all out by explaining to everyone what she has been observing.

The homeless man has regained his dignity and the wealthy family make sure he gets a chance at a job, integration, etc.

May be you are talking about "Same Kind of Different as Me". This is a 2017 American Christian drama film directed by Michael Carney.

Down and out in Beverly Hills?

Only a few elements of the plot match though...

A good classic one! But I doubt that a homeless man trespassing private property, falling into a Beverly Hills pool is considering "gardening"

Re: Movie - homeless man helps wealthy family

Thank you, both.
No, it's not "Down and Out in Beverly Hills"... that is much more about Over The Top and Excess and Craziness than the film I saw.

"Same Kind of Different as Me" is - from the general atmosphere of the movie - much more like the one I meant. However, the one I saw was, I think, more of a children's movie, with the little girl being central to the story.

Sounds a little like the plot of Whistle Down the Wind?

I have a vague recollection that it was remade recently*

Regards

Ian.

No that's a convict who hides in a barn and Hayley Mills' thinks is Jesus. It's a Webber musical, transported to the American South instead of Somewhere in Yorkshire .

I have no idea what this movie is called but as a movie buff I hope you find out the title! (also the movie plot is something that sounds intriguing and interesting)
