TV Series, Spanish(?) Father and Small Son, 1970s/1980s(?)

A young boy, perhaps 6 or 8, is taken from somewhere (from his family, or found somewhere?) to live on a horse ranch. He is afraid of the horses and finds everything there strange and foreign, He is lonely and sad.

The owner cannot really help the boy in his adjustment there, nor comfort him, because he is a broody, proud man, who is portrayed as basically good and honourable, but prone to anger because he has been hurt.

The boy is the man’s son, and someone (an older woman? one the servants?) knows this, or figures it out, but cannot reveal it, for fear of something or someone.... Either the boy does not know that this is his father, or the father doesn’t know this is his son, or neither father nor son know.

A younger woman is around. She becomes the partner of the man. Perhaps she works for him, perhaps they are lovers. She is beautiful, with long dark hair, and seeks the truth.

There is an older man somewhere in the background, a hard, dark, cruel figure, perhaps the father or uncle of the man, and he may be to blame for the pain. Perhaps he had once driven away the boy’s mother, because he considered her not good enough for the man.

This was possibly a serialised movie, or a made-for-TV series. I think it was Spanish, but I'm not sure of that.

Any suggestions, please, anyone, of what this could have been? Thank you!

Could it be Argentinian or maybe Mexican? They also have pretty good cinematographies, especially Argentina.

You made me curious - why do you need this info? Is it for your work/studies/etc or would you like to watch it again out of nostalgia? For a moment I was inclined to believe it's for one of those guessing games people play at parties/with friends..

Sorry, I really wish I could help you more, hopefully someone else will come along to decipher the mystery.

Oh, yes, Fury does have quite a lot of the elements I mentioned. But it seems so up-beat, with conflicts being quickly identified and solved, whereas I remember the other as having more mournful and distressed, with more of a sense of tragedy.

Yes, perhaps. That could be.

Yes, not so much out of nostalgia, as just to put together the pieces of a puzzle, since it's just a vague memory.

I know the feeling. Remembering something that was evoked by another thing and getting really caught up in the process. I wouldn't let it go either, even if only for a purely intellectual satisfaction.
I think google might do it. Do your search in Spanish, it might come up with better results. But you really have to remember some important details/queries e.g. whether it really was a Spanish/Spanish language movie or it was actually dubbed into Spanish (as far as I know Spain is among those countries which are dubbing all movies/tv shows etc, and that for a very long time...even prior to seventies when your movie was - allegedly - produced )
Good luck!!

Re: TV Series, Spanish(?) Father and Small Son, 1970s/1980s(?)

I found it! Or at least, a made-for-youtube compilation of several main aspects. This is definitely it!
https://youtu.be/Bq19vXKpa5Q
Belle et Sébastien - début de la saison Sébastien parmis les hommes
From this first glance, I seem to have some of the main elements, but forgotten others (like the dog!). Sébatien was adopted, and lives happily with a grandfather. Unexpectedly, as a boy, he is taken to live with his biological father, whom he does not know at all. That father has a partner (beautiful, with long dark hair) who resents Sébastien and demands that the man choose between her and his son. He chooses Sébastien, but is then hurt, lonely and troubled.

It seems this was a made-for-TV series run in three seasons, first Belle et Sébastien, then Sébastien parmis les hommes (shown in the above compilation), and lastly Sébastien et la Mary-Morgane.

Interesting - the only version I’ve seen is the 2013 film and it strikes me as quite another story!

Who'd have thought this would have a link to a Scottish pop band:

I figure it was a childhood favorite for one of the band members. But perhaps the book, not the series, which sounds quite a bit darker than the film.
