Beef - loved it.
I got accustomed with Ali Wong in different types of roles but she delivered as usual.
It was so uniquely done and captured many of things that are wrong in my country …

Ali is hilarious & a fantastic actress, that scene on the stage in Vegas where you saw her face make all the emotions in a few seconds was incredible.

ha! I watched one of these by accident while zapping through channels... so happy there are crazy people that bring life back to some of these historic places.

on netflix as others have said +1 for the Diplomat. Currently watching season 4 of Succession

Re: What are you watching?

I'm going to have to check out Beef, since it's received such great reviews.

We watched a new-ish film by M. Night Shyamalan not long ago titled "Knock at the Cabin" which was quite good. Very psychological and keeps you guessing 'til the end. It's basically about two guys and their adopted little girl staying at a cabin in the woods. Four people show up with a bizarre ultimatum to give them. So throughout the film, you can feel the tension build as they struggle with trying to make their decision.

Re: What are you watching?

I'm another "late adopter" and am watching "Breaking Bad" currently. It's funny, OH has finally watched "Game of thrones" a few months ago, a series neither him nor I had the time to watch when it was en vogue among our colleagues and friends.

"Breaking Bad" is a very good series but hard to watch at times - it's just too much violence in some episodes. (probably nothing compared to other movies/series but still) but at least my Spanish is improving - I'm learning nice words like "pendejo", "cabron"...

Also, I hope Bryan Cranston (Walter White) got payed really well because it looks like half of the series he has acted wearing the least sexy male boomer white underwear it's just painful to watch...

I might watch this one too sometime in the future, when nobody else will..... It looks like Kerri Russell from "The Americans" stars in the main character and I loved the other series I have watched with her.

The last episode of Succession has been aired, I can finally watch the last series. Maybe it would be fun watching it straight from season 1 - unfortunately I have work and family chores too

Breaking Bad is not bad, but Better Call Saul is better, especially the first two seasons. Hardly any papiermache characters, and the conflicting connection between the two brothers is portrayed brilliantly in my opinion.

Re: What are you watching?

Does EF count as a series more or less a core cast with added extras/newcomers, predictable plot w/occasional twists?

Last I remember watching was Upstairs Downstairs (as a kid on our b/w TV which was in the basement)

I’m someone who finds too many other things to do at home in my waking hours, but make a point of seeing films that catch my interest in the cinema. I was in Amsterdam week before last, took advantage of the EYE museum/cinema: saw Aftersun, Quiet Girl, Tàr

Yep, if you let it it eats up a lot of your time, isn't. I've got hooked on Netflix during pandemics and have watched a few movies that I wanted to see for a long time (what I'd call classic movies, more or less) but it's not a thing anymore because almost all their new house productions suck. I'm not into the woke stuff and all the gore and horror their originals (and not only) are abundant in.
You have to be reealy selective, like with all things...

But there are a few things worth watching, in moderation.

(one can employ their cognitive dissonance to deal with watching all the crap - if you don't have Reddit, FB, Twitter vices you're good to splash out a bit of your time on Netflix )

Apparently yes. And a lot of extras and a backstage crew.

I take it you didn't watch "Friends"..? Or "Seinfeld"?

Good point, I find I watch one episode then forget to return - recall watching Lilyhammer after reading an interview w/Steve van Zandt (reminding me I completely missed The Sopranos…)

No Seinfeld, or Friends, or Dallas, or Benson, Miami Vice, Dynasty, Sex and the City
I’m starting to feel my education missing a chapter - and possibly at risk of developing a habit?

Just finished Snowfall - Think 'The Wire' with more violence.
Just one episode left of Beef then Bosch - Legacy.

I totally agree with you and also say exactly this ....according to OH this is nothing else than some sort of "survival bias"....for ten good ones you'll find a lot of crappy ones from the exactly same period.

I don't know about "education" but you definitely missed developing a habit. I would have loved to watch some of those you've mentioned; I'm afraid I was too young for Dynasty and Dallas, and the rest of them I just watched a few episodes on tv and missed most of the others. Netflix made it possible to catch up with some of the good ones (well, some episodes at least). But I agree, if you're not careful you can really waste a lot of time.
