road food- swiss style?

I am addicted to this site
about roadfood in america. plus i read the Sterns' in Gourmet magazine.
I am a foodie and i love reading food books (not recipe books) but just about food cultures, history etc

anyway, it got me to think about Swiss road food or fast food (of course not the international fast food chains) but something really swiss...

are there any? anyone recommend some off-the-beaten-path roadside treasure? i want to try some, anywhere in Switzerland....all i can think of is my local roast poulet man in his truck

thanks!

Oh Swissotter, looking at your "roadkill" -sorry, "roadfood" site, has made me hungry for some trashy food.
I would even eat the "foot-long dog" - looks totally yummy!!!!!

I really miss trashy food here, there is just too much quality around!

i know, that site is addictive, last year was on a semi-road trip through New England...omg! i ate such great things, not at all "trashy" just more home-style cooking, you know?
I still remember the lobster rolls in cape cod.........sigh, to get a lobster roll in landlocked switzerland!

Re: road food- swiss style?

Not exactly Road Food but rustic and out of the way.

Walking up to Mt Pelerin from Vevey I found this restaurant. The place looked like a small farmstead. It was almost as if the owners were cooking from their home kitchen. It was very pleasant and unexpected, being in the middle of nowhere. They also had a local home brew. I think that the bulk of their custom must be local farmers and the occasional walker.
