Re: Punk Scene

Shame on me for missing the 'trail of dead' show..

In my opinion switzerland has a horrible boring scene , and that youtube video posted just confirms that. (pretty awkward to call that 'punk')

Also not to many good shows here so I try to enjoy whatever I can going home to Sweden.

When any decent band decide to play in switzerland they go to weird places like lausanne or basel , not to Zurich !?! (Red Sparrowes, ISIS, mogwai, .. list is long)

Re: Punk Scene

They are quite a trendy range of watches and have been a major contribution to Swatch profits.

That was your first point, as for your second, I have no idea what you talking about here.

Do you mean "Punk Rockers who care" ? In fact the use of "that" is quite widespread in common English:
For example you may be familiar with the expression : "posters that interest noone".

I was talking about Irony.

Punk Rockers who cares.

The "WHO" in this context is used to represent a specified antecedent, the antecedent being the "Punk Rockers". Perhaps, I should have used "THAT" but that is used to represent things.

Anyway nevermind, I quite like the video and one of the guys can really sing.

Evilshell, what do you think about daddies?

I can't believe that I have to say this...well New Zealand is in the Southern Hemisphere...South East of Australia.
Hehe. I think we were just asking where the bar was, not where the East Islands were

Re: Punk Scene

I'm not really in any way familiar with the punk scene, but I did meet two girls in the bar at hotel x-tra who seemed to be into it, or something similar. From what I remember, the night club at the hotel x-tra might cater for that sort of sound. I could be totally wrong though, anything that's not easy listening tends to blend into one homogenous noise for me!!

The hotel extra is on the No.13 tram route, right at the stop 'Limmatplatz' if you want to check it out.

Don't be daft. I meant the bar, but it's irrelevant to me now, since I left NZ five months ago. But at least I've learned that if I want to ask you for something, I should do it six months in advance.

Good news indeed, I'll try not to miss it.

Just found another show I want to see that is confirming my theory about bands staying clear of Zurich.

hardcore/mathrock heroes Converge are playing in on the 19/7 in Lausanne,( @ Le Romandie). I'm sure it will be a good show thu ..

I heard there is a place near the train station (at the other side of the river) which holds punk concerts from time to time. I don't remember the name though. Anybody knows? is it a good place?

I think you mean Dynamo. Only been there once, but its a nice little venue with a crowd half my age

Say Dee-na-mo if you are asking for directions.

For old-school ('77) punk check this Swiss band out: Tight Finks

Shamless plug as they are good friends of mine...

Re: Punk Scene

ps also check out
mars bar (near langstrasse)
meyer's bar
the new one at langstrasse, hell's or something
züri bar
xenix (no gigs but cool anyway)
lots of the stuff is mouth to mouth and flyers btw, so it's not very easy to know where stuff's going on if you don't know people, unless it's on the squat radar.

Re: Punk Scene

The punk scene in switzerland is actually quite big, you just have to know where to go.

In Zurich the Dynamo (Werk21) is quite popular, especially on thursdays. (No Live-Gigs, but Bar&Sound)

Abart is not my favourite but they got some good Party Series like Alternative Nation or Flower, Boots & Bones (no kids there, 21+ party).

X-tra got the best Party on Wednesday (10pm-3am) not exactly punk some good alternatives though like dark wave/electro.

Sometimes the Provitreff got some good stuff going on ...

Anyways, the real punk scene is in Winterthur. Check out the Gaswerk, Alte Kaserne, Sommercasino etc.
