Open restaurants on Sundays in Zurich?

Does anyone have a list of restaurants that are open on Sundays in Zurich? I went crazy last sunday because i just wanted to get some Sushi and ALL Japanese restaurants were closed!! Couldn't find a SINGLE one that was open.

*insert whining here about how much it sucks that RESTAURANTS are closed on Sundays. Whose idea was that?*

And speaking of Sushi,
1. what is your favorite Sushi restaurant in Zurich?
2. What does "Sweet and Sour Chicken" mean in German? Is this dish popular here at all?

Thanks in advance

Well, AdFab, he might just work there.

There are not many open on Sundays and it's a mystery why not.

There's a new place opened on Seefeldstrasse - trams 2 or 4 to Feldeggstrasse - called Corretto. It's open on Sundays. Not been yet, as it only opened this week. Seems mid-range, clean.

Google may help

Re: Open restaurants on Sundays in Zurich?

There's a lovely cafe/deli type setup at Kunsthaus (not at the art museum, but other side of the tram stop) - definitely open on Sundays, and seemed to be low-smoke or smoke-free. To the right of theatre entrance. Corner of Rami-strasse and Promenadengasse.

They serve soups, fresh bread, quiche, cakes, croissants, and beautiful salads, and the coffee seems decent too...also upstairs they have a more 'up-market' restaurant...

Another one that is open is a similar 'health food' style place - next to the Dolderbahn entrance at Romerhof - we had great salads, pizzetta and they do good hot drinks or cold...they also do bread rolls/sandwiches and various fillings...

Both seem to do a pretty busy trade on a Sunday.

Re: Open restaurants on Sundays in Zurich?

We attempted to try this cafe last Sunday @ midday. The food was very tempting and the place had a nice laid back vibe...but it was incredibly busy....

Advisable to book in advance for Sunday's... and not just turn up

Once upon a time, a friend of mine phoned me he is at the Zurich airport ready to pick up to make a short 4 hour visit while waiting for another connection flight. We walked all around Bahnhofstrasse and couldn't find a single restaurant open in vicinity. We ended up in deli fishmarket inside the Zurich Haupt Bahnhof where we ordered fish and chips, as far as I remember they also served sushi raw fish.

I suggest Bimi http://www.swissbimi.ch.
It's a bit pricey but I think it's as good as it gets!

Re: Open restaurants on Sundays in Zurich?

try some of the hotels, not ideal but they often have a "Sunday Brunch" offer which can be good.

http://www.zuerich.com/en/page.cfm/restaurants

you can select from this list here if you tick the "sunday brunch" option.

Re: Open restaurants on Sundays in Zurich?

Youujis is a western style restaurant, sushi and other dishes are ok but not great. But I like the concept.

Once I saw a black guy making sushi there...

I'm by no means an expert on Sushi in Zürich, but I like Ginger.

Closed on Sunday.
