Good restaraurants in Zug - Baar - Cham area please?

Hi, as we are new to the area and have reason to celebrate, can anyone please recommend a good restaurant in the area. We live in Immensee and are looking for somewhere with a good lively atmosphere, Zug, Lucerne, etc. etc. good lake views perhaps?
Where would you go to celebrate? There are no fussy eaters among us and no Veggies.
Many thanks.

There are a few with lake views along Vorstdadt, Zug. I've been to two, can't remember the names but were very nice

The Indian Restaurant in Baar went out of business I saw.

I guess that leaves the one in Cham, Rajastan. It is pretty
decent.

I am not surprise that the Indian in Baar went out of business, its prices were unbelievable even for Swiss standards...

Given that Zug is fairly affluent there seems to be a real shortage of good places to eat... which is probably why I end up cooking at home.

There is a new Indian restaurant in Zug. It is behind Metalli next
to the hotel. It is called Indian Spices.

Has anyone of you folks been there yet?

The new Indian spices is owned by same person who was running Tandoor in Baar.
We tried once, is expensive but food quality and service was good.

My two favourite restaurants in the area:

Syrtaki Greek Restaurant,
Vorstadt 26, Zug
041 711 40 41

Far East Chinese Restaurant,
Bahnhof Zug (in the bahnhof)
041 711 68 08

The food in the Far East tastes the same whatever you order, come on can you really say its good food.

It convenient yes but is there really any quality. I cook / eat Asian most days and I am afraid the food here does not resemble anything like what is possible with a little care and attention.

Any particular dish we should keep a look out for?

My wife kind of expected that for some reason. I will have
to try it anyway. How much are entrees? 25 CHF?

Where is it exactly? Do you know on what street? Is it on Industristrasse?

I live nearby, but I haven't seen the new Restaurant yet. That would give us another option for take out

It is probably 250 meters from Park Hotel( on Industriestrasse ) when one heads direction Baar. It is on the same side as Park Hotel.

The Bambus Chinese restaurant in Cham (on the corner next to Neudorf Einkaufzentrum) is quite decent. I especially liked the steamed meatballs (beef) dimsum style.

Sorry I must have blinders on, but where exactly is Blinker and what kind of cuisine does it serve?

Blinker is on the first floor of AMAG- Skoda, I guess it is "Alte Steinhauserstrasse".

From what I understood they serve french food

Finally ate at Aklin in old town Zug -- for our wedding anniversary.
Although a tad pricey, it was very good.

Yes, it's in the same building as VW in the Amag Areal, Cham, very near Otto's. Not exactly French food, more like modern fusion with several excellent Japanese offerings.

Have been to The Blinker twice in the past 3 weeks. The menu is not large, which is good. Had very good swordfish steaks with an interesting Mangold Rendang (now that would be an Indonesian or Malaysian influence) accompanying. A friend had a dessert that looked like sponge cake with Dulce de Leche sauce and fruit.

Last night, we had sashimi (kingfish, salmon, tuna), tiger prawn with squid ink risotto and Beef Ragout with Pizochels and sweet potato. Creative and with attention to detail. I do recommend The Blinker. Guten Appetit!

Bringing back an old thread, hoping someone can help.

This Saturday we are celebrating hubby's birthday by renting 2 boats on lake Zug for the day. There are 17 of us (including a 3 year old and 8 month old). After our boating/swimming day well be looking for food, preferably along the lake somewhere, but nothing overly fancy as we won't have time to change into dressy clothes kind of thing.

1. Does anyone have any good restaurant recs in the area? Looks like the boating area we will depart from is by the Postplatz area.

2. Is there a BBQ pit anywhere near there we could occupy?

Thanks!

If you're looking for a restaurant in Zug, there's the Mexican one in front of the lake across the road. But if you plan go farther afield, there's Milchsüdi by the Lorze river near the lake in Cham.

If you decide to self-cater, there's a BBQ area in Zug near the marina as well as off the Chollermühli area between Zug and Cham on the shores of Zug lake.

Thanks very much!!

Do you know if there is a website where I can get more info on the BBQ sites? I imagine we can't reserve and getting space for 17 people might be difficult....

No, sorry. The Höllgrotte area, near Baar, has several BBQ spots along the river.

http://www.zug-tourismus.ch/en/navpa...grottenZT.html

The picnic beaches near Chöllermuhle between Zug and Cham do have sufficient space for three or four groups (at least).
