No, sorry. The Höllgrotte area, near Baar, has several BBQ spots along the river.

http://www.zug-tourismus.ch/en/navpa...grottenZT.html

The picnic beaches near Chöllermuhle between Zug and Cham do have sufficient space for three or four groups (at least).
We were there some weeks ago, indeed, big enough to host a few groups.

Per beach there is a kind of cemented BBQ spot and wood is available.
A few tips:
- It are sand beaches and some wooden benches are foreseen.
- You can only get there by foot or bike though.
- There are 3 beaches and the one nearest to Cham is for nudists.

You may want to go and check it out before.

or just take your own portable bbq. That's what many groups do. Much easier to grill for many people on charcol and you don't have to wait to use the firepit.

You could leave it in your car parked there along with a cool box with your food, nibbles, drinks and some camping chairs...

A friend took along a full-sized Weber. A bit of overkill but it worked for the size of group there was. He had 2 windsurfers and a kid to carry too though.

For BBQ spots I found some on maps part of a book called Leisure Guide to hiking, cycling, inline skating, Nordic walking published by Zug Tourismus (it's free) you may find it online on PDF. In my experience the spots are taken quite early so bringing your own grill could be a wise option!

Restaurant-wise I can advise San Marco URL="http://www.san-marco-zg.ch/"]http://www.san-marco-zg.ch/[/. Despite some mixed reviews on Tripadvisor we always got good service. Italians visit the place as well. Going there with three of them on Thursday

Bringing back an old thread, hoping someone can help.

This Saturday we are celebrating hubby's birthday by renting 2 boats on lake Zug for the day. There are 17 of us (including a 3 year old and 8 month old). After our boating/swimming day well be looking for food, preferably along the lake somewhere, but nothing overly fancy as we won't have time to change into dressy clothes kind of thing.

1. Does anyone have any good restaurant recs in the area? Looks like the boating area we will depart from is by the Postplatz area.

2. Is there a BBQ pit anywhere near there we could occupy?

Thanks!
I can't say anything about bbq cos I always bring my own... And indeed the third beach of the 3 is a nudist beach...

as for restaurants, I can recomend Restaurant Brandenberg nothing too fancy, good meals and drink selection. A happy medium between a fancy restaurant and a bar... I can also recommend the Han Mongolian Bbq on Baarerstrasse just passed the Bahnhof...

I'm quite fond of the Chada Thai on Baarerstrasse, Zug - not too expensive and much better than the place in the train station

The Asian lunch place above Otto's in Baar (Lattich) is also good. Enjoyed the fried noodles, soup noodles and fried rice there.

I'm a fan of Pizzeria Krone in Baar (sort of behind the Bahnhof) and Mühleplatz in Zug (in Altstadt, next to Restaurant Schiff) is good, too.
