International Folk Dancing in Zurich?

Does anybody know of any International Folkdancing (Balkan, Greek, Israeli, etc.) happening on a regular basis in Zurich?

Hi. You may want to have a look at this thread and/or get in touch with John (jbendix). Baden is a 15 minute train ride from Zurich.

There used to be a group that met regularly in the Rötelstrasse Gemeinschaftszentrum. I haven't been there for many years though so can't say whether they are still going.

Re: International Folk Dancing in Zurich?

I'm not sure about this particular one, haven't been there yet - but until now on all bal folks I've been to we were dancing mostly Breton, other French, Irish, Portuguese, Belgian... sometimes Balkan or Eastern European, though not so often.

The band's webpage states that
Quote:
It seems there is going to be some workshop before as well.

There is a regular Balkan dance class every Thursday evening in Oerlikon, Zurich. One can join any time. Two groups - beginners from 6 p.m. and advanced from 7:30 p.m. The teacher is very nice. This used to be her email, I don't know if it's still valid: alexacandrian (at) bluemail.ch. The address: Quartierzentrum TEZET, Gubelstr. 1, Oerlikon-Zurich.
The dances are mostly from Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Serbia. Hope this helps.
