I've been to New York Foods and found it a pale shadow of Subway or Quizno's. NYF sandwiches are tiny, overpriced, and skimp on all the toppings. Their concept of a philly steak and cheese sandwich is a single slab of dry uncooked meat with a thin piece of cheese on a tough piece of ciabatta. Hand down, the worst steak and cheese I've had in my life. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to Subway for sure (though I definitely would have preferred a Quizno's).

The new subway restaurant in zurich will finally be opening on the 12. of july 2007.

Theres some activity going on at that builiding between Stauffacher and Sihlfeld. It'd said for a long time that a Subway was coming soon, but now it really looks as if it may be true.

Forget Subway. Reopen the Helvti bar on the bridge !!!

Helvti bar was open the other night when I went passed. Had a new sign above the front door but looked the same inside.

The blackboard against the back wall was still there, although I couldnt see from across the street if it still advertised B52's for 5.-, but I suspect those days have gone.

Oh , those were the days: when the Dub had more barstaff than cameras and noone knew if the Helvti ever shut...

They're expanding massively in Europe. I went to a Subway in Lörrach, near Basel yesterday - they opened that one just a couple of weeks ago.
Only a matter of time until they open additional ones all over the place.

The prices are, however, very high. I paid 9 Euros for a foot-long teriyaki chicken sandwich with double meat and double cheese, that's insane. I doubt they can ask that much in Switzerland (16 Fr. sounds like a lot more than 9 Euros...)
Apart from that, they pretty much offer the same stuff as in the US. They also have to whole low-fat menu.

I read in today's "Cash Daily" newspaper that Subway is opening its first Swiss "Filiale" in Zurich tomorrow. Unfortunately they didn't write down the address.

I've been to the Hooter's in Interlaken twice. First time ordered the cheese steak- leme just say that one should never order cheese steak outside of Philly. Highly disappointed.

Second time what I ordered was better- even let my man have the better viewing seat
