Thanks so much for this link, which is now bookmarked! I've had a hankering to go out for brunch lately (must be the cold weather) since it was a Sunday ritual back in NY, but had no idea if there were even any places serving brunch here. Some very nice places on this list | Quote:

I wish I'd seen this thread earlier. My girlfriend and I had to hunt around a bit for breakfast places on Sundays. Here are a couple of places we tried.
Zum guten Glück has quite a good Sunday scene. It's very laid back and full of young, fashionable/arty/clubby types. There's a wide range of sweet and savoury pancakes, all freshly made. They're not as large or thin as French crepes, but not as thick as American ones . . . more like the pancakes that those from England will be used to. Mine was highly satisfying. It's reasonably priced too.
Metropol on Fraumünsterstrasse serves breakfast all day at the weekend. It seems to be part of the Kramer restaurant management group, which isn't auspicious. It has a smart hotel cocktail bar ambiance. On the positive side, fantastic scrambled eggs, good coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, well intentioned service. On the downside, slightly chaotic service (an order for bread with our eggs confused the hell out of them) . Watch out . . . it's possible to eat here without great expense, especially if you have one of the breakfast deals. It's also possible to build up large additional costs, e.g. adding bacon to your scrambled eggs is expensive.

There's an Imagine at Sihl City which was really great the last time we went. We had a reservation for 11 am and were one of the first ones there, so being busy wasn't a problem. They would make fresh eggs upon request and had lots of nice fruit and a big assortment of bread. No pancakes though .
The Geisserei is still tasty, but you need to reserve well in advance.
Kunsthaus is nice also, they have a decent selection and the price is good.
I thought Bohemia was terrible, my eggs benedict had a mixture of tartar sauce and mayo instead of hollandaise sauce - gross.
There's also the Marriot by the HB if you are OK with spending a buttload of money, they have everything from breakfast to thai curry to sushi to a carvery bar. The dessert table is to die for, make sure you haven't had anything to eat for 3 days before dining there.
I'm looking forward to checking out these other recommendations!

Gisserei is only about 5 mins walk from Oerlikon station. Have a look at their Lageplan : http://www.diegiesserei.ch/001fga_0602_de.htm
Have only been for dinner, but the food, service and unique setting are all superb!
The website shows a nice bar/lounge area too... is it possible to go to Gisserei for drinks too? Couldn't work out if that was on hire or for special events only, or open to all on all nights.

Enough choices to eat sepcially for breakfast side. Service was good and they had a room upstairs for kids.
About drink, I didn't see such a big bar like area.

Linde Oberstrasse do a very nice brunch, but only on demand and with a reservation - the advantage being that they do what you want them to do. I celebrated my birthday there with 30 people, and we had a room all to ourselves, as long as we wanted to.
I really liked it - but, of course, this is not for a spontaneous Sunday morning.
Best, Idgie

| | Re: Sunday Brunch in Zurich | Quote: | | | | | I was at Imagine today for the first time and for me it was very disappointing. It wasnt a "real" sunday brunch, especially because their (very few, thin, light colored) pankakes were crap and it was sort of desolate, not like other places where ppl stand in rows to get their freshly made omelets.. The selection was very low, only a few fruits (3 kinds of melon and thats it), and no "real" food.. it was like some "swiss boring diet brunch for ppl who dont want to eat" not to mention that we had to ask and wait for the waitress to bring a small cup of coffee every time, only once or twice in an hour instead of a self-service one or having a 1L jar. Seriously I don't really understand ppl who pay for an "all you can eat" service and then have a gipfeli with a tea. | | | | | i would have to agree with this review. don't see what all the hype is about. it's just average.

It is really super you can choose moroccan and lebanese food or more standard breakfast. Teas are wonderful,on the downside it can be a little noisy at times. | This user would like to thank Celtictwist for this useful post:

I agree.. there's a really nice lebanese platter - bread + dips + jam etc.. for ~ CHF20 and if you just want something small and simple there's breads/croissants + jams (nice and homemade-ish) for CHF 7. So something for everyone...

| | Re: Sunday Brunch in Zurich | Quote: | | | | | The KunstHaus also has a very nice all you can eat Sunday brunch for CHF 33, which includes a free drink. It has a tendency to be quite crowded so reservations are recommended. They have meats and cheeses, fruit, muesli, joghurt, a couple of hot dishes usually including some sort of potatos and meet, lots of fresh juice, and a bunch of different breads.
Great place to go with some friends and hang out for the morning. Especially when the weather is bad, like it has been in Zurich | | | | | the variety really lacks. not worth the money...

We are just back from a wonderful brunch at Zaehringer ( http://www.cafe-zaehringer.ch/) not much of a variety but scrambed eggs at chf 6.50 was the cheapest I have ever see in zurich(the portion was quite decent). The breads are from St.Jackobs Bakery.
They have good breakfast and brunch combo and the atmosphere in the cafe is nice. Not very crowded.
They have non-smoking tables as well. A nice shelf filled with books, some chess boards and puzzles for kids.
I would certainly recommend this place for singles and families. I certainly fell in love with the place...
Happy brunching
