We went for the unlimited buffet in Pousche on Sunday. Plenty of Cardamon coffee - and plates of food. Including large slices of Strudel (which we then took away as we couldn't finish them). 32chf per person isn't cheap - but we all left stuffed - AND unable to eat until 2030 in the evening

Re: Brunch in Zurich

The Bohemia at Kreuzplatz is closed for renovation during the next few months. So, no good coffee around here at the moment . But...

... The owners/managers have just opened a fun-looking place at Römerhof:

Le Ponyhof

Looks like something worth trying out sometime soon.

Re: Brunch in Zurich

We had brunch at Iroquois in Seefeld today. Catastrophic service, cold food, rubbery eggs, exorbitant pricing. I could have made better, in less time with less stress for less money. Zurich strikes again.

Re: Brunch in Zurich

Iroquois is owned by the same people, but possibly run by a different manager. I don't like it much either. Nooba on Kreuzplatz used to be better to begin with, but has lost it a little. Bohemia is/was much better. Le Ponyhof looked pretty full, but of course it's just opened.

They're all expensive, looks like the money they're making is going straight into new places.

Re: Brunch in Zurich

We had brunch at Strozzi's Seefeld (Zürich) today for CHF 39.90/person.

Strozzis' offered all in all a nice breakfast buffet, we could order egg dishes as well as soft/hot beverages and a glas of Prosecco was offered upon arrival. The buffet included freshly squeezed fruit juices, cold beverages, many different sorts of bread including Zopf and chocolate croissant, different kinds of cheese, cold meat and yoghurt, Birchermüesli, etc. It would have been difficult to leave Strozzi's hungry …

Minuses: Rather a breakfast than a brunch buffet, no Sunday newspapers.

Re: Brunch in Zurich

Went to Forum this morning (top of Langstr.) and was really disappointed. Service was extremely slow, and their "French Toast" was the pre-sliced toast bread from Migroop fried in butter. That's it. It hadn't been soaked in any kind of eggy/cream mixture. Not a speck of cinnamon to be seen! And in a city where they could easily use some nice Zopf? Oh, and the bit of fruit salad on the side was flavorless.

Am curious though, cos the place was hopping and I've heard people recommend their brunch. Maybe it was a bad day in the kitchen?

Café des Amis in Nordstrasse is cosy and always full of people. I've been there once, they're a bit slow in service, but make excellent omelettes.

I am afraid I can confirm the bad news: the place - Forum - is a total disappointment. Service too slow, terrible coffee (got a milchkaffee instead of Cappuccino) and the food is over priced and simply below average. The only thing that was nice is the modern decoration, but that certainly is not enough to bring customers/me back.

Re: Brunch in Zurich

hi there, thought i should tell everyone about our bad experience in Forums - the brunch place near Long street.

the foods are ok there but the service is horrible - if there's any service at all.

it usually takes us 30 to45mins to be seated, if you see other customer came in and you dont acknowledge the staff then your table will earlier be given to any walkin customer.

its take long time to get the staff attention to order foods. ( 45mins )
quick to have foods ( once you order )
then it could take up to an hr to get the bill..

i made my final visit there just because my freind live near by and she didnt want to go anywhere but close to where she lives.

i heard customer on the next table complained about the same issue, they arrved at 11am and left at 2pm and they only spent 30mins eating.

i tried to get the manager attention and i could see that he was avoiding me, i ended up had to start walking out the door and get this attention,

when i complained to the waitress about the service and she said blame the manager.

seriously, i dont know what kind of service they are provide but 60CHF for brunch with no service, i dont think people should even go there - coz thats encouraging the bad service in zurich!

the manager there is the key problem, i believe.

Re: Brunch in Zurich

i agree with you totally, TAE and msmaddymax! Forum is VERY BAD! and the staff has so much attitudes, then i thought, why should i even bother to go there, why do we PAY them for the attitudes?

Re: Brunch in Zurich

We had brunch in Gloria some weeks ago and it was really good, almost impossilbe to finish it. I think we paid around 30CHF each.

Not for brunch but for a good coffee, Careda is also near, with amazing Italian pastries, delicious (and Kalorienfrei)

Agree. Place is nice (in summer there are also a few tables outside) and breakfast is good, but service is very slow!

Re: Brunch in Zurich

Bohemia at Kreuzplatz has just re-opened - kinda chic-looking, friendly service, live music, bad acoustics, different coffee beans, which will be tasted tomorrow.

(Ponyhof, Römerhof, closed end of 2011, btw)
