Bohemia , Kreutplatz -Terrible English Breakfast.

Bohemia , Kreutplatz -Terrible English Breakfast.

This place has been spoken for and been spoken against for it's breakfasts.
I took the family there today and was deeply disappointed by the 'English Breakfast' and 'cup of tea'.

For ChF 26 , and another ChF5 for some greasy burnt Swiss style streaky bacon I got cold beans, a super slim sausage that was just plain awful and a cup of tepid tea in a glass with a weird strainer. Typical Swiss chic , but not the mug of tea that Sunday morning deserves. The eggs were o.k. the beans were o.k., hiding on top was a very lonely button mushroom (singular) and half a tomato.

No sign of HP or Ketchup. Service was friendly but slow. The outside tables are shaded to the point of being chilly even on a day like today...

I cant seem to find any good words for their English Breakfast. Am not usually one to complain much, but people should really think twice about this place when mentioned in the same sentence as English Breakfast. Shame really, it's just a walk down the hill from my apartment and it's quite chilled in the evening. They serve Spiced Rum at a reasonable price and the service is always good in the evening.

My better half enjoyed her scrambled eggs, and the young lad really enjoyed his pancakes and maple syrup. I made up half a smile and choked my breakfast down.

Just for the record. Sorry to bore you.

Unfortunately, not something I'm a stranger to.

Re: Bohemia , Kreutplatz -Terrible English Breakfast.

We once tried to order Ruesti in a restaurant purporting to serve Swiss specialities in Bournemouth (not the 'Helvecia') and were served up essentially raw potatoes. Obviously I should have ordered an English breakfast...

Of course you should have! Nothing to do with your respective location as your post implies, but why order a moody hash brown when you could be eating succulent English sausages, beans and a fried slice with a good cuppa?

I also got a terrible English breakfast at Bohemia too. Could sausages That was back in 2003 - nice to know that it is still not worth ordering. Next time, try the bagel with chicken - it is huge and really nice.

To put it the other way round, they should abstain from something they do not have any understanding of. They have good wines and good coffee, and so a basis to go upon. Tea ? tea in most places in Zurich ... in Switzerland is beyond discussion. I learnt to know tea in London in 72 and on return had to find out where to get decent tea, how to prepare it and finally how to filter the water to have water which did not destroy the flavour. The ugly habit of many places here to put tea into a hot glass is something I always detested.

And so, very very sorry, but I recommend you purchase what you need and make your English Breakfast at home.

Here around you rather ask for a Café Complet with coffee, milk, bread, weggli, gipfel, butter, jam and maybe an orange juice

I have never eaten there but had quite good coffee there and glasses of excellent wines, and once a Calvados. Why they venture out into something they quite obviously do not understand is beyond me
