Re: Greek food in Zurich?

Delicato is decent (www.delicato.ch) for casual Greek food. There's a taverna called Athena on my block but I haven't tried it yet...let me know if you find any other good ones!

Re: Greek food in Zurich?

I quite like this one in Seefeldstrasse:

http://www.griechische-taverne-l-p.ch/

It is very close to the real Greek food, and the staff is very nice.

You might want to make a reservation, as it can be very busy.

A colleague told me that Athena only serves greek food at night. So if you indent to go there for lunch, call them and ask, so that you won't get Züri Geschnezeltes instead of Pastitsio!

Another one, great for Souvlaki is Mythos.

I have only been in Zurich for 4 weeks now and being a Greek/Australian myself, I have been looking for a place that does a decent greek souvlaki in Zurich. After seeing your post I tried Mythos last night and as far as a good and very authentic greek souvlaki goes I think Mythos would be up there with the best of Zurich. Thanks for the info!!

Re: Greek food in Zurich?

I regularly grab lunch at Hellas, on Stampfenbachstrasse 63, just up the road from Stamfenbachplatz tram stop (11, 14, 46 bus).

Typically surly / friendly woman who shouts / smiles depending on mood.

Greek, then

Haha, quick is a relevant term. :P

So, about greek products in general:
Zorbas in Binz. Owned by a greek couple, this shop provides restaurants with greek products. Anyone can shop there, though.
Their internet site is good, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to call before you go there, to make sure they have what you want or even to order sth. Ok, that moslty goes for special stuff, like some specific cheese apart from Feta. :P

Last nisht I enjoyed great Moussaka and mezedes in Liston, in Wipkingen. I'm surprised I'd never noticed that place!
The owner is very friendly, the food good and the atmosphere relaxed. I didn't find that the live music (two instruments, dont worry) was too loud and we also danced in the end. Once cause the owner pulled us up to join him for some chasaposerviko (ok, sth like syrtaki :P) and once more for some "passionate slow dance", that an old regular ordered "for the ladies to have the chance to dream and hope". *niaaaawww*

Oh, and it's always worth mentioning Beaujolais. Make sure to make reservations.
